The Pacific Northwest GLOG 2015

Today launches The Pacific Northwest GLOG 2015, geared towards growers from this region.  Since there appears to be disagreement on what states, and areas, actually comprise the Pacific Northwest, I will use a broad definition, in order to include more growers.  If anyone thinks the definition could be even more broad, it can always be changed.  Come one, come all.

Oregon
Washington
Alaska
Northern California
Idaho
Montana
Wyoming
British Columbia

I am from the Rogue Valley, in southern Oregon, so, I will begin with a couple of shots from my yard, which over looks the Rogue River.

It's still December 2014, but I've been busy putting together my grow list for the 2015 PNW season.  My seeds will be planted around the second to third week of this month.  I'm cutting a bit back from last season, so, here's my modest grow-list to kick things off for the 2015 season.

I hear you buddy! Today is really nice but, those babies are only getting 3hrs max of sun light. BTW.. I just got approved for my life time veterans pass for the state parks and they have mailed me my pass card. Once I get that in I'll reserve a spot for the Sept 11 thru the 13 chili fest. I'm getting Cheap here.. Didnt want to kick out $70 for a spot for the 2 days. Looking at bringing out the trailer grill, smoker and whole outdoor kitchen setup for this shin ding. Cheers Buddy.
The plants that I bring outside are up to 5 hours of sunlight, then into the garage, then into the kitchen overnight...repeat everyday...tiresome. I'll have a greenhouse next season.

That sounds awesome, Aaron!  I'm only bringing a bivy and sleeping bag,
so there will be room in site 25.  I think there will be three or four of us,
but no RV or anything like that, so there should be room for another car,
if necessary.  I'm hoping for a big PNW contingent this summer!  The more
the merrier!

Keep an eye on the Chilifest thread for particulars as to who is bringing
what as the time draws closer!

Jim,

I was going to use a shop vac..... I haven't used it yet but have quite a few dead ladybugs in my grow space.  I found a mass of very small ants and I'm not sure if they are trying to eat the live/head ladybugs.  Any tips on killing ants???

The ant traps I've used in the past have not worked.

So, did you catch the sniper?  Photo?

FG, how do you round up the ladybugs once you're done with them?  I'm really looking forward to your plant out.

Yeah, I was doing fine with the fungus gnats this season until I switched potting soils, ones that were stored outside.  If the gnats can infest bagged potting soil, I'm not surprised they found your soil.  Might as well get some Mosquito Dunks.  As long as we're on this subject, I find fungus gnats to be more of a nuisance than anything else.  I've never lost a plant to them, yet.

Wow Jim, That sound like some back breaking work the there. You have like 80 plus plants. That greenhouse sound wonderful!  I have always thought about one. Maybe 1 day. Cheers!

Let me check with the other person coming with me. I know we were talking about bringing the10x20 canopy, possible 10x10 canopies along with a bunch of gear ie..tables, folding chairs, xlg coolers, food warmers, generator, several grills, propane heaters. I let you know in the next couple of days if thats cool.  Will keep my eye open on that chilefest thread. Sound like this is going to be awesome! Cheers

Dude, you are coming loaded for bear!  The canopies will be awesome
if it rains.  Last time, the weather was great!

My final plant count is more like 54. My initial list is a joke with all the changes I made.

Dont want to leave nothing to chance.. Heaters will be good for family members to keep warm and so forth. More members from our non profit org wants to attend so we will get 2 sites side by side. We also voted on supplying 50 to 60 pounds a meats and other side dishes for this. ie.. stuff we'll slam out in the woks. We are also bringing out our commercial propane griddle to make breakfast stuff for ya all if you like. We can discuss menus later. If you dont mind being a POC on this that would be great. if not just let me know. I can handle all equipment aspects side of it. We can make a great showing for the THP PNW group. Cheers buddy

Aaron, you need to post this info up on the Chilifest thread
so folk can start planning ahead.  Have you checked out
the campsite availability, yet?  I booked site 25; has electrical
hookup and room for RV, etc.  There are sites left, but I wouldn't
wait too long, they start to fill up, although the after school starts,
it's probably not such an issue.  If needed, we can add people
and equipment to my site. How many people from your non-p?
Way too cool, brothah!

I thought I posted something there but will dbl check. Right now I'm trying to get site 22.  The online reservation is not accepting my Life time pass number so I'll give them a call tomorrow morning and try to get it sorted out. Right now there are 4 of us from the non-p. Some others will let us know later if they can take the time off from work. Cheers Brother!

Edit.. Thanks for the offer with your site. I'll let you know if I have trouble getting the site.

It looks like site 22 is not available, but site 23 is.

Unless that's your booking on 22.

Less gnats for sure. I haven't done anything but use the traps and perlite. I did water one time with a mosquito dunk in the water. They only get water once a week right now. It's not very warm in my garage.
