food The Pescetarian

Had some alligator tail meat left in the freezer, so decided to do something a little different to the regular fried gator we do. Cooked up a batch of gator balls, and holy sheeit! Good stuff!
Start with a nice slab of gator tail

Chopped it up, put it in a bowl with some sliced Thai peppers and a serrano, green onions, a little salt, some lemon pepper seasoning, some lemon drop powder and an egg and breadcrumbs

Form into balls, let it set then fry them suckers up!

Absolutely delicious!

I love you man but....

Wrong thread.

Gator is meat.

Like a big leathery swimming chicken.

Not fish or veggie related.

And anti-hippy.

They still look damn chingon though.

Sorry TB. I figured gator could classify as seafood. My bad.

jajajajaja...

Don't feel bad man.

I've got more than a few friends from LA that think that gator is a fish too!

They can't even pronounce the words "amphibious reptile".

For what its worth though, I'd mao the hell out of them fritters.

TB has all kind of weird hippy rules in this thread. I even got a boo from him for posting fish that wasn't a healthy enough fish. <sigh>

Never had gator tail before. Looks good though.

You can't never tell with them hippy folk.  He may have been suffering from some sort of metallic allergic reaction to the thumb ring.  Don't hold it against him.  He is generally all glitter and rainbows.  This week especially since he is gonna have a burger.

Strange, this is what I got when I googled "glitter and rainbows". Too bad TB isn't here to deflect this one.

then I had to google what the heck a fujoshi is....If you don't know, you really don't need to.

I WAS going to post this in another thread but decided this threaded needed it more.

Bonefish Grill. Tampa, FL. Tonight around 8pmish.

Deep fried calamari which was pretty dang goodern' I expected from a chain. The sauce was just okay and not spicy at all although it had some since chunks of garlic. Came out piping hot out of the fryer.

mrs. blues normally likes good fried calamari. Not this time. She didn't like the larger cut of the squid. Too chewy.

She was right, but I liked it anyway.

The famous Bang Bang Shrimp Taco's.

The shrimp was crispy but lacking in any shrimp flavor whatsoever. I'd bet the price of the meal the shrimp were frozen and imported either from Vietnam, India, or Indonesia. The flout torts on the menu were described as being served warm. They came out room temperature warm. And too much lettuce. The biggest disappointment was the sauce. Sweet and runny with the predominant flavor of mayo. Maybe a hint of mae ploy but I really couldn't tell. Ketchup would have made this sheeit hotter. Note that I'm talking about the stuff they toss the shrimps in after its fried and then served and not the white unknown tasteless gunk you see splooged on there.

The crunch of the shrimp fresh out of the fryer is what saved 'em.

I knew the joint was a chain but over the last several years all I would hear was how wonderful the bang bang 'thang was. I admit I talked myself into thinking it was going to be better than it was but ya' know sometimes....

me so stupido!

It was pert dang meh-derful. Probably much better than a lot of other chains though but I really wouldn't know as I don't eat at those places.

At least I got it out of my system.

I'll do up some proper shrimp tacos when I get back to DFW after thursday.

Deep fried doesn't have to be necessarily unhealthy.

Good oil, at the right temperature is the key so all the oil is not absorbed.

You of all people know this compadre'.

Ever 'thang in moderation as they say.
