The UNLUCKY SQUIRREL made by scott Zalkind owner of LDHS

I opened mine at work last night so people could try it. Everyone loved it! It's super garlicky with little heat but awesome flavor! I could eat this everyday on whatever. My wife loves it! Thanks again Scott keep up the good work!

Apologies on being so late to the party on getting an opinion in on this, been a busy few weeks. Firstly, a big thanks to Scott for holding a bottle of this for me, loved it.

The initial opening is huge garlic, being a bit of a garlic whore, I loved this. However, my immediate reaction was the bold roasted garlic taste was going to override everything else. Not the case, it sweetened out a few seconds in and the carrots and cane sugar came through promptly followed by the cayenne. I didn't think the lime and the citrus fruitiness of the Jonahs were overly present but there's a subtle building burn that comes on a bit after the fact. That said I didn't find it very hot at all, maybe a 4 but I'm known to throw raw supers in salads.

Overall, the flavor is awesome, I really enjoyed the roasted garlic and jalapeno (took a little searching for). I made a handful of homemade turkey burgers with a verity of spices and 6 fresh minced Jonahs (Thanks Judy!) and smothered them in this sauce. With the added heat it was easily the best sauce I've used on 'em.

Great stuff Scott! Really enjoyed it.

Right on Taxing!
I just got mine today. I used half the bottle on pizza.
LOOOOOOVVE IT. Everything about it is perfect, and falls right in line with the LDHS flavor line.
I was expecting something way different, but Scott was able to keep the LDHS flavor profile with different flavored peppers.
AWESOME JOB.

DID YOU HEAR ME? I SAID I USED HALF THE BOTTLE ALREADY!!!!

1/2...!

.5...!

2 X .25...!

50%...!

i need moar.

Workin on it.

Like I said to someone else - you will never have that sauce again. It was a developmental recipe. Hopefully future batches using this as the base will be tweaked for the better. But enjoy the
Moment as you'll not have this sauce ever again.

Didja give SL her bottle?

yeah thats the same thing you told me that sucks but cant wait for the new one to come out

Thanks Scovie - I really appreciated your feedback...nice to hear it's still got the LDHS "spirit" in it - but with a different flavor. That was my impression as well - I want something that's different, yet still fits in with my thang.

well i finally tried it yesterday with some St louis ribs.. and loved it.. sucked though as i had to use it sparingly knowing i will never get this type of sauce again.. at least for the moment.....then i brought it to work and 5/5 who tasted it loved it... but was disappointed to find out that its a one of a kind... how long is the shelf life in the fridge because i will only use it on special occassions... btw.. i did direct some people to your website... told them to mention my name... lol ill try to get preorders from them..

tHANKS SCOTT....

Nice - thanks man.

Shelf life is pretty long - unopened it has a comparable pH to products I have a 2 yeah shelf life on - but that refers to unopened on a store shelf.

I've kept sauce in the fridge for 8 mo's without issue but that was deliberately doing a test - it usually doesn't las t near that long as I eat it way more quickly than that.

Thanks for the referrals!

You should let 'em try the real stuff next time.

My family rated it a 10 out of 10 for taste!

The bottle is completely gone already. it lasted about 4 days.

the taste was amazing, loved the garlicy taste. the taste of the vinegar was overshadowed (i hate vinegar, so thats a huge plus in my book).

Heat was about a 2 on a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being mild, and 10 being fresh superhot. Could have been hotter.

Overall it was fantastic!

I cannot imagine anyone rating that a 2/10.

If so you're seriously damaged. Hot sauce reviewers have given my Orange a 6.5/10 (should be up to 7-7.5 in next batch) and this was hotter than that.

Not sure if your heat sensors are busted or you're tryin to be macho, but I am not in agreement with 2/10 claim.

I'll agree, Ketchup is assumed 0 on a scale from 1-10
This poor squirrel is a LEAST a 5 for a hobby sauce.
If it were a commercial sauce, it could EASILY be a 5.05, maybe higher.

But not a 2, c'mon man, quite braggin, you've had milder and hotter. (I have)

  :drunk:

I too am late to this party, sorry LDHS. I finally tried it this evening. I didn't put it on anything, rather I just ate a couple of teaspoonfuls so I could just taste the flavor alone. It is VERY good! The flavor is excellent and I agree completely with taxing's assessment of the flavor (I couldn't have said it better myself). However, and I'm sure I won't be popular for this, I have to agree with jsschrstrcks on the heat. I found it to be lacking severely. Now I know this is beating a dead horse as you have already said you need to up the amount of Jonahs, but it is my honest opinion. I seriously only got a tingle out of the sauce, no hint of true burn at all. Then again I may not be the best person to comment on heat as I think I've burned my tastebuds off ;)

So for me, bump up the heat (significantly if you ask me) and you have a real winner.
