Going to get some plant and pics today but wanted to put this up whil I was thinking about it, my harvest from two days ago (excluding what's in the bowels).

From left to right we have brain strain, chocolate bhut jolokia, giant red bhut jolokia, caramel bhut jolokia, 7 pod jonah, chocolate hab, fatalii, red douglah cross, long red and jalapeno. Sitting in the background is some brain strain + jonah hot sauce. Thanks for looking, more pics later today after I get off my bhut and take them

More later, grow on pepper growers!

That's looking wonderful TGPM! 30hrs of smoking already and how many more to go? I would love to taste that powder.

I have to ask, what's a "caramel BJ"?

I mean no offense but the 7 Pot Jonah's look a lot like some Trinidad Congo peppers I've grown.

Here's what the 7 Pot Jonah's look like that I grew.

They are real thin skinned and sound hollow when you tap them.

I run the smoker at 120 - 150 so it takes about 48 hours or so. I smoke them until they are completely dry, no dehydrator needed. Although that's running right now too & completely full :) I should have loads and loads of the powder...PM your address and I'll hook you up.

Caramel bhut jolokia is the name I've given to the pods coming from one of my plants this year. I grew 6 chocolate bhut jolokia plants this year. 5 of them are the "classic" dark brown, lots of pics of them in this thread. One plant though is totally weird - the pods start off almost a neon green color, very, very bright looking. They ripen a "caramel" color, definitely not chocolate looking and definitely not red looking. There are some pod and plant pics in this thread. Tastes different than the chocolate too, almost "douglah" like is the best way I can describe it. I saved a bunch of seeds from it this year and am going to grow it out next year and see if it grows true. No idea how it will turn out at this point. I can send you a few with the powder if you like.

The Jonah's...you're not the first to say that and no offense taken. I got the seeds (in pod form) from BigT last year. What's growing this year is true to what he sent and man-o-man are they hot. Hotter than the bhut's for sure. Look at Neil's video, 28 seconds in.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUxaoLxAJoA

These pods look exactly like that and range from 10 to 23 grams. I've also seen the bumpier looking Jonah, my neighbor (PepperPat) is growing them. I'm convinced there are two type of Jonah's out there or that one or the other has been named incorrectly but the name has stuck. Google image search will you show a mixed set of pods too. Either way, awesome producing plants with massive pods that carry a serious punch. I'll happily call it the 7 Pot Tony (after BigT ! ) if needed :)

Edit - my neighbors Jonah's look like yours. The ones in my most recent picture are pretty small, there's a shot of larger one earlier in this thread - http://www.thehotpep...post__p__486498

Beautifull picture's there Jeremy, I'll need to start reading your topic from the start now and view all your picture's
Thanks for checkin' out my thread guys

Those caramel bhuts are gorgeous! They look a bit like madballz's 7 Pot cross. Do you know if the seeds were pure? If it's a mutant I would love to get a seed or two.

Thanks for taking the Jonah comment the way it was meant. Neil had both types of Jonah's there, how cool is that? Didn't look like he enjoyed it much either. Man I love that guy and his video's. Thank you for providing the link.

I'm about ready to give up on the names of peppers and just start assigning letters and numbers to them. Anything in the "A" lot would be a superhot, in the "B" lot habanero hot and so on and so on. Post a pic with each one. Every time a different looking pod shows up that doesn't match any of the pics of the ones already labeled can have a new letter/number. Fix that issue.

Best of luck to you with the rest of your season man.

Yes, I have been watching the thread and agree, they definitely do have some of the same characteristics as madballz's cross. In terms of the seeds...I have no idea. My neighbor hooked me up with some chocolate bhut pods last year and I just saved the seeds. Only one plant has the "caramel" look to it this year and I didn't do any isolation. Every other plant grown from those seeds has look like a traditional chocolate. I'll send a few pods your way so you can pull the seeds. I'm trying to spread this one around a bit, would be cool if it grows true in future years.

I hear you on the naming, I just try to stick with whatever they are called when people send them to me. I do like to learn about the "history" of my seeds as much as I can. I can start calling this one BigT's hotter than hell 7 pot of some kind :) It really is an awesome plant/pepper and will have a place in my garden for years to come.

PM your address and I'll send some goods your way, have a bunch of stuff going out next week sometime.

Grow on

SICK harvest! Woww! It is funny, I came across your blog before I ever found THP, but I love how things come full circle. Those smoked pods are a great idea. How much powder will you get out of that?

Matt

Very nice pods,plants & harvest. :)

Thanks!

Small world huh :) Loved your Yellow Scorp taste test video.

When it's all said and done I'll probably have enough smoked powder this year to fill 30 or so of the glass shakers pictured below. Non smoke dried ground powders will probably fill another 30 - 40. I think I had around 80 total last year and this year's about the same. Do me a favor and PM your address.

This morning's work. Tony, can you guess one of the peppers in Smokey T's

PM sent my friend.

Wonderful looking plants, especially the Bhuts! Some folks grow them tall, some grow them bushy, looks like you mastered growing them both ways.

I am a little curious what the pink "plant" in the bottom left section of the second photo in post #112 is though. Or is that something your lady is growing?

Sorry couldn't help it.

Beautiful job on this thread Jeremy. Lots and lots of impressive stuff - that 5 foot Brain Strain is positively Cappy-like. BTW - the one Giant Jolokia container plant that I moved onto grass is now my healthiest - it used to be my worst. I need to get more plants off the asphalt next year and find a way to keep the roots cooler. Didn't know we had a Jonah controversy - the ones that Neil grew looked like mine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUxaoLxAJoA
