Trippaul Threat (PdN x BMJ) Community Grow

This is a dedicated grow log for Tristen's awesome cross, which I
have been growing out since 2014.  I'll start with a bit of history and
some photos documenting what's happened so far.

In January of 2014, Tristen (Trippa) sent me a little care package of seeds.
In the package were two generations of a cross he had made, which he just
called 'Mystery Cross, F1' and 'Mystery Cross, F2'.

Here's Trippa's Mystery Cross seedlings in February of 2014:

Both generations showing the purple foliage characteristic since the beginning.

Up close look at Trippa's Mystery Crosses, F1 and F2.  Both culled to a single
plant after the photo taken, so I only had one plant of each generation:

Woah. Double post for the PT!
That is real style, my friend!

I brought one of the purple pods to work, we got 4 people lit up on tasting it. :fireball:

Like you said Paul, they may look like candy, but.. :P
That is pretty funny, Scott. A 4-person pod!

Glad they are coming in for you, brother.

Violet pods galore. All these (and previous) have been
isolated pods, so I am keeping the best seeds from all
the larger pods no runts. Pretty consistent, across the
board. F7W-3 is the most prolific producer, with very
consistent phenotype pods:

The F7W-4 has turned out to be throwing yellow pods.
If I let these get close to white, they get very overripe.

This may be closer to Tristen's original vision, the purple
foliage with yellow pods. Note some violet blush on a
couple of them:

It's funny. After several generations selecting white pods,
none of my plants is giving white pods, yet. Summer heat
may tell a different story.

It's up to Bhuter's F7 White to come through for me! Maybe
there will be more white pods out in the global grow.

Here are a few pics of what i have going on. I feel like my red solos are stunted lol started seeds in January. I have 1 F7 3 moruga choc 1 reaper and a dozen i think too be various. Bbg pumpkin etc...

The big moruga choc i grew from seeds last mothers day. Cheers everyone! ![emoji892][emoji892][emoji892]

Glad you got a white specimen going.  So far,
my white pod seed has produced three violet
pod plants, and one yellow pod plant!

Go figure...

As they say "Man proposes. God disposes"  ;)

The plant that I topped has nearly reached the top of the window again, but at least this time it seems to have flower buds forming.

The plant that is already flowering is weird - the flowers on one branch all have a purple tinge to the backs of the petals.  The flowers on another branch are all white.  Maybe it's to do with the amount of sun they get?  Would have thought it was all the same, though.

No pods set as yet, I don't think.  Hopefully won't be long.  Once they set, presumably they will be purple.  How long before I learn what colour they will end up (e.g. ivory)?

The flower coloration is both genetic and a response
to the sun, I think.  Some of mine have the violet shading,
others not. It's a hybrid, so anything may be possible,
even in the seventh generation!

Yes, the pods will start out a dark purple. As they approach
ripeness, they begin to lighten up to a violet color, and then
their final ripe color. Just takes a little patience waiting to
see what will happen, probably 6 weeks or so, like most
chinense pods.

From my small sample of 4 plants last year, and four this
year, it seems it really wants to be a violet pod variety.
The white/yellow pods seem to be more rare. One reason
I was excited for this year's global grow to see just what
kind of tally of color variation we end up with.

Thanks for your interest in Tristen's cross, Mitzi! Good luck!

I think you meant 'planted'. Don't you love
spell check?

Glad to see you have such an awesome F7
contingent, Andy! Are they white or violet
varieties, or both?

Really looking forward to the pics! Good luck
with them, my friend!

I have f7w f5w and the seeds I saved from the bulbous pod, I dont think I labeled wether it was a white or violet. Hopefully they set some pods before the July heat kicks in.

They got into some of my prime real estate too!

Wow, what an amazing plant. The dark foliage looks great and I loved how someone said it likes the heat. I have a habit of starting to read glogs without checking how many pages it is first, this one just kept going.
I had a lot of fun reading thru all the changes the plant has made. Everyone did a great job. I would love to grow one for 2020 if this is still a thing by then. I can pay for the seeds. Lmk
