smoking Turkey!

Had this 22 lb bird sitting in the freezer (already pumped..wife bought it), so decided to do it up this weekend. I didn't do a thing to it (trying to eat a little healthier ).

I put in over Royal Oak lump with maple and cherry. Pulled it off when the breast was 163.

Cut it all up and had 3 freezer bags of smoked turkey to last a while!

anyway, that bird looks awesome. i'm not crazy about turkey, it has grown on me quite a bit, but definitely looks like some good eating! my dad makes turkey on the grill too as opposed to the oven, unfortunately he doesn't use the lump charcoal or add anything to it. just standard briquettes.

i personally have no experience at all with cooking turkey..especially a whole bird!
