WC 2010

I agree that it was a poor game. We were not able to reach the level of play needed to win. Spain was slightly better and deserved to win. Congratulations to all fans of spain on the hot pepper.

I do feel the ref played a big role in this match. He stopped the game way to often and that made great football impossible. I agree 2 of our players (van bommel and de jong) should have had a red card in the first half but we also got a lot of yellow cards for minor fauls. Spain made a lot of similar minor fouls and got less yellow cards. Also the goal was a major error from the ref since we should have had a corner, he didn't give it and 30 seconds later it was a goal.

I will always remember the wc 2010 as a tournament without great football. I've seen more then 50 of the matches and I can't remember a single great game. It's also the tournament of referee errors. Offside goal for argentina, 100% goal for England & Paraguay to name a few.

Unfortunately Vincent, many a game was ruined by bad refereeing, although I think the Dutch got off lightly with only one red card shown. I really can't understand how De Jong stayed on, with so many send offs in other matches for lesser offences. I was hoping to see your lads win it...third time lucky.... but Spain deserved it a little more. At the end of the day I'm just happy it wasn't Italy... useless twats couldn't even beat New Zealand . Actually the Kiwis were the only team out of 32 not to lose a single match....

I thought it was a crappy game with poor officiating and too much diving. Unfortunately I believe the game needs some major changes including the use of video for some calls and for punishing divers

I totally agree. De Jong should have been send off, it was a karate kick for no reason what so ever  . He is the same player that broke the leg of one of the players of the USA in a friendly match. If it were up to me he would never play for our country again. I did feel Heitinga didn't deserve the red card, the first yellow was no card in my opinion.

New Zealand impressed me, they almost won against italy :)

I feel the same. I almost any other sport video is accepted only Blatter doesn't want it. His opinion is that wrong decisions give us something to talk about after the game.

Just to be clear I hated how we played, I think we can play fair and great football but I'm still disappointed we didn't win. On the bright side I won 400 euro, we always do a little betting with family and friends. We predict scores for all 64 matches, 1 point for right winner or draw and bonus points for exact score. Winner takes all and that was me for the first time since 1990 :) :onfire:

Yep defo on the video judging not just goal line stuff, hell put every tackle on the big screens in the stadium and I'm sure when these 'superstars' are shown doing blatent dives and get shown up as cheatin funkers

Well, the dutch game is famous because we normally play attractive soccer and not because we won many prices as a national team. I hated parts of the "Marwijk" style game but loved the team spirit amongst those guys this time. The last game was just terrible ( dunno what happend with de jong) but I'm sure the game would have been better if robben scored that goal... Next Brasil 2014...pff

Yesterday, my facebook status read: "In the Netherlands vs. Referee Game, Spain Wins." right after that second yellow card the ref gave Hetinga during overtime.

This WC was full of really really shitty referees.

I reckon far too many countries' players dive during a tackle.

This is totally wrong and unacceptable if they cannot do it to the same high standard as shown by Italy over the millennia.

 :woohoo:
