Other than a few songs, I don't really care much for Slipknot, but I see a lot of people hating on them and saying they suck. I have a lot of respect for them as musicians even though I am not fan. You can't watch this video and honestly say that these guys suck. Mick Thompson is a beast in this video!

I love Slipnot. I actually met Mick backstage at a Long Beach Dub Allstars show a long time ago. He told me he was the guitarist for Slipnot. I says, yea whatever dude they all wear mask, you aint gotta lie to kick it.  :rofl:  Interesting he likes and go's to lots of reggae shows.

Have you seen the rest of the band unmasked?! There is a reason these guys wear masks. They are some of the ugliest dudes you'll ever meet! :rofl:

I remember liking Opeth around 2002. But over time I grew away from the cookie monster style of singing in Metal

I like both and Opeth features both. Probably a good 50/50 with each style. Plus they have a lot of mellow music as well. :cheers:

So now I will say the same to you. I know it isn't really your style, but these are some friends of mine that I grew up with in Alaska and used to open for occasionally. Amazing talent and some of the coolest guys you'll ever meet. Sadly, they have pretty much parted ways and Nick Forkel is the only remaining original member, but he is trucking on with Chris O'Toole on bass and Jono Garrett on drums and the three of them have a new Turbid North album due out soon.
 
The interlude/solo starting at around 3:28-ish will almost bring a tear to your eye. Nick nailed that solo.

Epic album ender for their album "Orogeny". 90% instrumental and shows off their groove metal roots. Alex's solo at the end is also a classic, IMO.

If only I could turn off the vocalist on the first track   :lol:  second track was killer. I get a sense of old Iron Maiden influence. I could definitely listen to them, without the cookie monster.

You've gotta hear the Pantera influence in there as well!
 
And what some people consider old school Turbid North, but I remember when this was considered their new material. I wish I could get some of their first songs from back when they were a bunch of teenagers. That stuff was killer!
