Stick with it
@PaulG at least you know the flex can keep going outside when others struggle with temperatures!
I have 4 C.flexuosum growing this year and three of them have done the same with flowers initially. Hundreds of dropped flowers but then they've flipped to converting 80%+ to pods. Lots of small pods initially but plenty putting on size now.
Surprisingly even some of the smaller pods have given me seeds this year when in the past they'd have been seed free. 10+ seeds from the first two tiny ripe pods yesterday.
I wasn't aware that they were more tolerant of
cool temperatures, that gives me some hope!
The plants themselves are vigorous and bushy,
although the past two days of 30+mph winds
beat the larger plant up pretty good. Blew over
several times and lost some smaller branches,
but still lots of plant left. Looking forward to a
decent Fall grow season here
Thanks for the info,
@ChilliCrosser.
Jeez!! I aplogize for wasting your time and resources. All I had growing with those tepins were galapagoense, pubes, one baccatum and the rest were small podded plants that mostly were not capable of crossing due to chromosome numbers.
No apologies necessary, John. I thought that was
just the phenotype on this variety. I don't consider
it a waste of time, the pods are awesome. Several
varieties produced larger-than-normal berries this
season, Yellow Pequin, Pequin Uvalde along with
this Tepin. Perhaps due to vagaries of weather? Or
maybe just crossed. The other two were volunteers,
so very possible for them.
Anyway, I appreciate the seeds you sent, and still
looking for more
c. flexuosum berries after CC's
comments. Hope you are having a good season,
my friend!
