I like your list megamoo. The aribibi gusano is a good one. I grew one called aribibi gusanito which looks exactly the same and they are very tasty and hot! Easy to pick off the plant and great to pickle. Plus they look cool like little worms.
Bloody cold here this morning too, nights and mornings are freezing day time is ok though. Poor plants outside.

Is it usually sunny all year round in Brisbane? I think a few people have said to me that they can grow year round there?
If not how bout you just put them in the house under a fluoro. Maybe that might work, or at least they would be able to survive if not grow much???
I tell ya, it wouldn't be so bad if plants simply just stopped growing without the sun (like "paused" or something ) but it's the fact that they grow all leggy and go all pale that I don't like. :(

I've heard that *usually* we are right to grow all year round here. I've never had any experience with growing seedlings over winter though.... and knowing that seedlings need all the light they can get, I'm so bummed right now! :mope:

Candice, your plants are screeming along! Looks like it works very well.
Quite impressed with the outside ones as well, doing great.

Well I managed to pick a small Chilli harvest yesterday so was really excited. Even got a few Strawberries ripening up too!
My outside Hydro Channel is still flowering fruiting as well, but once the sad weather sets in it will probably change that.

Hey nice list there Megamoo, some very tasty ones there

Micca

Thanks Micca, yeah I'm pretty happy with them.
That's good you got a harvest. I have hundreds of Tabascos that need picking but haven't got the time. It would be good if I did and then pickled them, but I dont see that happening.
When Zack is a little older I should make pepper picking one of his chores!

I just had a thought, with tomatoes going at $10/kg atm I might start up some seeds and put them in the hothouse too. I can see that this season is going to get out of control for me already and I haven't even listed what I will be sowing next month yet! Why is it that we always have to have just one more

That is an awesome idea dude

Like Candice said they pull off the calyx so easy it should work, i know that this idea is used for harvesting things like olives so it would be worth a try. I suppose it depends on how hard you shake the plant really!

Hey Gassy, coldest day in Brizzy in eleven years! Hope you have your woolies on! :D

What sort of tomatoes are you going to grow? I grew some heirloom varieties that are different to the usual red. Purple and yellow and green and stipey ones. I can't believe I've still got a purple cherokee in a pot outside in the cold completely exposed and its still alive and putting out new green leaves. You should definitely try Brandywine tomatoes, they grow huge fruit.

Umm dont know yet. I have a heap of seeds of Green Zebra (stripey), Tumbling Tom (cherry type), Yellow ?(cherry type), black Krim (purple), Better Boy (tomatoes up to 300g!)just read they dont like cold though and then I have a mix of Rainbow heirloom seeds. So probably a big one and a cherry one (my son just loves picking and eating cherry tomatoes straight off the bush, he ate the whole two plants we had with us only getting a couple off it!).

Thats the only reason why I want a family  Or maybe I should run a personals add "looking for wife, must have kids(Chilli slaves)"
If I could just find some umpa lumpa's

Hey diefinately grow some Toms. I have some Tigerilla's on my bush now, still green yet but hope they will ripen. The Tom bush is growing/fruiting more now than in summer!
I like growing the Green Zebra to mix into Salsas seeing it stays green it has a different flavour to the others.
My Fav's are Black Russian and of course the Cherry Tom, soooo sweet you can eat them like lollies!

Ha Ha!!! Zack is already in training. He helps with getting the chillies in and out of the dehydrator and always asks to help. When I say no these ones are too dangerous he say's " but I'll put gloves on". A few months ago he insisted on helping put dried ones in the blender with no gloves then went to the toilet awhile after. I know most have had this experience but imagine a 4 year old with no tolerance doing it. He came back screaming so now he knows that gloves are important

Yeah green Zebra just looks cool too. the boys don't like the different coloured ones but I do.

Yeah I’m sure he has learnt and wont do that again. Pretty painful for a 4YO though!

I’ve also got a Black Zebra to try next season, should be interesting.

Oh no got too snowed under and didn't check my plants yesterday and just went in and I have had a death in one of my seedlings in the rockwool cube :tear: It was a chocolate Trinidad Scorpion. Also my bloody expensive PH tester shat itself a couple of days ago and it was just out of the 1 year warranty.
Not too happy with the germination rates in the rockwool cubes either. Only about 50% in 20 days. Will go back to my jiffy pellets I think.
I hope things start getting better....

Only a small setback Candy, look towards the stars girl! There are uber cheap PH testers on ebay, i bought one recently for 6.50 i think. Over here they want about 50 for the same model.
This is the one, different price but have a look around there. It comes with only two buffer solutions though. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Digital-water-test-pH-Meter-Tester-0-14-Pen-Aquarium-ci-/160572413388?pt=AU_Pet_Supplies&hash=item2562dc95cc
Works just fine and free shipping from Hong Kong, wouldn't really matter if it only lasted 6 months at these prices!

Thanks Nova. Yeah I know it's only a small setback, just me being negative, have to change my attitude, not usually like this. Have really had a bad last month with people/companies/authorities stuffing me around or not doing their jobs properly and have so much to do before the baby comes that I have just had a guts full and don't need anymore complications.

I need a fairly good tester because I use it for my sauce as well. The last one was waterproof and had an accuracy of 0.1 and a few other good points to it. Just means another thing to add to my ever growing list of stuff to do. Thanks for the link will have a look, rather get something local though so my plants don't end up dying in the meantime.
