Hey officially the first day of Winter today :( Oh crap now comes the Cold, wet miserable bloody weather.
Bring on Spring I say!!!!

Micca

cheers Micca.
Yeah will see how it goes in the hothouse, hopefully the new baby allows me to spend some time with my plants as well. I really think I will need to put a heater in there though.
Yeah stupid weather. Oh well hopefully you get something before it gets too cold.

Adam ended up putting this extra pipe on so I can attach a hose to empty the reservoir as I can't lift it.

Nothing shows that a guy cares like inventing ways to keep the fully pregnant woman working

There must be something in the water I just went to a rely bash and every one of my 6 cousins and my brother all have newborn babies.

Oh by the way the superhot pods I got from you look awesome! Your plants look great too ;)

Hey guys i have been reading up on air pruning pots but can't seem to find a supplier in OZ. Anyone have any ideas where i may get one of these fantastic containers?

Yeah he has basically done it so he doesn't have to empty the container for me everyday. It was to make it easier for him not me!
Wow lots of babies.
Enjoy the pods :hell:

I think the air pruning pots are more for trees which means the size of the pot (longer) probably isn't as suitable for chillies. You prob can't find them in the shops, it would more be for nurseries (wholesale) so you would have to place a minimum order which could be thousands. I could be wrong though....

My research suggests that you are correct, the nice lady at the nursery ( did i mention i have a nursery down the end of my street now! ) pretty much said the same thing when i asked her this afternoon. I know you can get little ones because i saw some on youtube that guys were using to grow the 'erb in. Came away with a mushroom kit though, :woohoo:

I used to work in a nursery and that is what they were mainly used for. That's cool you have a nursery down the road!
Mushroom kits are awesome, only problem is that they are all ready at the same time so you don't have a constant flow of mushies unless you have a few going at once. Wonder if you can just by the spores from somewhere instead of the kit all the time? My son loved picking them when they were reasy and i have never had mushrooms taste so good than freshly picked fried in butter and garlic mmmm.

Interesting about the mushies growing all at once, i grew them as a kid and can't quite remember that aspect. Maybe i could divide the kit into two parts like gassy was talking about. For now though i will just do the full kit and enjoy buttloads of mushies in about four/five weeks!

Well it's probably more of over a week or so that they are all ready. I have had 2 types. One in a box in some sort of soil? and th other on a big white thing with plastic around it (that one was ready all at once).
Anyway sorry to go off topic people...

Bugger the topic i invented this here thread! I have the second type you spoke about so it look like BOOM all at once! I was tempted by the Shitakes but went with normal buttons. I may get the Shitake kit though and dry them for future use, hmmm i wonder if drying mushrooms is safe and easy. Wouldn't want to poison anyone (well not anyone without MP after their stupid name anyway). :D

ha ha fair enough!
Both types were good. the button ones were in the box with soil so perhaps that's what they prefer? Can't see why you couldn't dry them if you dry them properly as you can buy dried ones from the shops. I got told that you should get 2 or 3 lots from it also but I only got one lot. Good luck with it!

Well seeing everyone is starting to get the growbug I thought I would post my planned growlist for the 2011/12 season.
This time I will be starting over again with a lot of varieties seeing the last ones didn’t overwinter/grow too well. Also will be trying to keep the varieties down to 100 but like every year this may change!

Sorry no mushrooms. Used to pick the Magical variety in my younger days, now they were the days!

It will be a struggle getting them all going, specially how I will be taking a couple of weeks of over winter to go Fishing but somehow I will manage :)

Now off home to start cleaning all my old containers to get these babies going. Looks like there will be quite a few rounds!

Heaps of names there that i haven't heard of micca, that's kind of good and kind of bad lol.
One everyon should keep their eyes open for is the Aji Blanco Cristal, red pods about two inches long. Very nice just eaten by themselves, these and serrano would make a very nice salsa. :drooling:
