Harry you know the saying where there is fire...... I'm not really good at identifying pests but I know aphids and ants come hand in hand. So I made the plant was moved somewhere, where the ants can't get back to it easy. I know won't hurt my plants, where with something like ant sand, I have no idea.

Last week I gave my plants some seasol/eco amingro. First time l've tried eco amingro, still trying to work out what else I could try, but in the interest of learning decided I wanted to see what impact eco amingro would make. This plant has had a yellow color to it for sometime. I have seen yellowing as a sign of over watering. But to me the leaves look infected when they die and fall off, not sure what the issue is. Should try get a pic, just need to work out a way to get good pics with this damn camera phone.

No sir, i shall start a " show me your bits" thread. :D

I hope your talking about pods there Nova.

Heres some pics of the leaves

Hey Jayman by the looks of things your in Sydney so if you want good prices on buckets and tubs check out this website. http://mooreequipment.rtrk.com.au/?scid=110659&kw=5468742&pub_cr_id=8833690693 . They are only $9.60 a pop. They've also got those blue drums too great for mixing up big amounts of fertiliser. Hope this helps cause it took me ages to find cheaps containers that were'nt sold by the pallet load.

I sometimes place plants up on their own moats to keep the little bastards off them. I found them crawling all over one of my Naga Morich plants here the other day. I sprayed the plant with water to knock most of the ants off the plant. The weather has been too hot to deal with the pests via spraying with some form of pesticide.

Would you be game to take a look at the root ball of the Yellow Hab? Is the yellowing between the veins of the leaves?

Interesting link, thx for the tip. They seem to have alot of gear that I use in my work too.

This plant is root bound, I do want to try re-pot this weekend but wasn't sure if it was a good idea if the plant wasn't well because of some other factor.

Looked at the rootball, looks pretty damn packed tight in there.

Those leaves look very similar to my issues. Most/all of my plants exhibiting those issues was or is (I suspect) rootbound. Once they are repotted they seem to recover well. I also suspect mine may be lacking calcium/sulphur/magnesium because of the lack of root space.

Saddly Bunnings didn't have pots/buckets available at a good price. They wanted $17 each for 20 litre buckets. They had also sold out of the only thing I would have liked, 60cm pots @$6.50 each.

Three things Bunnings are always out of stock of:

Pots. And always only the size you need. They have every other bloody pot in stock except yours.

Coir bricks. And always only the type you want. Every other type is overflowing with stock except yours.

And lastly. Anything else you specifically made a special trip out for!

I do want to add another fert to my eco amingro/seasol combo. I have used Nitrophoska, which I just sprinkled on the soil and watered in, but even then that was 2 months ago. Thinking of using powerfeed, also considering looking for something with worm castings.

Amen!

Searles 5in1 plus has worm castings
I use that in conjunction with organic link as a dry additive fert, plus little bits of this and that (my smart garden complete fertiliser has liquid vermicast in it) as liquid half strength feeds to boost anything that may be lacking. I am seriously thinking of getting myself some of this Micro-Phos to add calcium and phosporus without adding any nitrogen or potassium.

An analysis here of the micro-phos

Triple Boost has worm (juice) in it. I always had good results when I used it. (Nowhere as good as pure worm jizz though. ;))

Found this little bugger hiding from me today:

(As you can see, I've decided to make this thread my glog 'cause I'm too lazy to start one....)

Some great pics you got there gas. Whats the heat like from the hybrid your growing? Hope you had great Aussie day.

The aphids are on the march here. I've avoided spraying during the heat wave to not burn the plants. It's now getting to the point where I have to spray again. Kill them with fire. :flamethrower:

Cheers mate. Getting killed by broad mite ATM but at least things are happening. As for the Datil x Limon hybrid, can't tell you much about it yet. The plant did produce a couple small pods earlier on in the season, but can't remember what the heat was like now....

Yeah, harry, that sucks. I was avoiding spraying for broad mite for the exact same reason. Finally it cools down a bit here and it has been pissing down rain ever since!

Thought i might add some photos and get some feedback on my plants.

Bhut Jolokia looking pretty sad. Hardly any leaves but some ripe pods that set before xmas. Very few leaves, the odd flower now and again but they all drop.
Not in picture but plant is shaded by a beach umbrella in the afternoon.

IMG_1286.jpg

Trinidad Scorpion same kind of thing, Better new growth but all flowers drop. Also shaded in afternoon.

IMG_1290.jpg

Ground Bhut Jolokia looks good but yet to set a fruit all flowers drop.

Close up of same bhut, lots of flowers.

Another Bhut with the same problem.

A couple of stunners almost ready to go.
So there you go not the greatest looking specimens but a small result.
Im hoping once the weather cools off i may get some more fruit about april may fingers crossed.

Cheers, Kevvy.

Looking good, Kevvy. Love the last pic... one of them bad boys even looks like a ghost.

Even though the ones in the ground aren't producing, they look healthy enough. Hope they do their thing soon!

"Captain Kill The Slugs" that's me saved the day. Had a successful morning hunting and came up with these.
IMG_2882.jpg

There are about 20 in there. These were sitting in my chilli pots. I had been noticing that my chilli plants were being eaten by something but couldn't see anything during the day or even in the afternoons. I checked for caterpillars but nothing. So i decided to sprinkle a few snail pellet in each pot and this is what i get the next day. See the very monster one. It was in the nagabon pot. Imagine the destruction this one would have caused. Plants are all fine but this little one was eaten badly. I think it will survive though.

IMG_2883.jpg

As for the slugs they got flushed down the toilet.
