off-topic You know what really grinds my gears?!?

Ya know what really grinds my gears?

Those stupid weak fake "ziplock" bags the grocery deli gives you the cold cuts in.

Used to be waxed paper - you'd take it home & transfer to a ziplock to preserve freshness. I was ok with that. I knew what I had to do, and I did it. And my cold cuts lasted longer.

Now they give you that paper thin faux ziplock, and while it "seals", if you squeeze the bag you hear air rushing out. If it's not sealed, it's not effective at preserving freshness, dammit!

I believe it's a conspiracy by the grocery store - they give you a false sense of security that your food is retaining freshness - meanwhile it goes bad twice as fast as if you'd put it in a real ziplock baggie. Either put it in a real sealable bag or go back to the wax paper.

That really grinds my gears.

You know what really grinds SL's gears? Calling any sealable plastic bag a ziploc! I hope she doesn't see this, or this will become the ziploc thread. Best hijacker of 2014! Really grinds my gears!

SL would be ok with my post - I used quoted for the 1st use, then called it "faux ziplock" - the corrector may put her whip away.

....which really grinds SL's gears. ;)

She'll still hijack it and manage to get 3 pages of ziploc discussion going. She's very cunning.

Shouldn't you be announcing competition results right now? Instead you're grinding SL's gears in the lounge.

Gears ground

What grinds my gears? Pepper thieves. Someone or something came in and stole all my ripe (and some unripened) peppers sometime yesterday afternoon, and while it wasn't an extensive haul (just enough for an SFRB or two at most), it still makes my blood boil that whoever or whatever it was came in and did so.

I hope they break open a chile pod with their bare hands and then touch either their eye, nose or "other" sensitive bits!

That's pretty low.

Here's to hoping they deseeded 3-4 superhots then scratch their wiener, & rub their eyes, in no particular order.

I certainly hope so! :) I'm glad that on the bright side of things, who/what ever it was didn't vandalize the plants & containers themselves, since I have triple digit flowers on my yellow morugas alone and the leaves have been growing back in full force after the chilly windstorm a few weeks ago, and they've been thru enough the last month or so...
