contest August Throwdown

An uglystick is a fishing rod for some folks that aren't into fishing.
BTW, how did an uglystick hijack a thread about the August throwdown? Anybody catch that?

booooooo! I don't trust a man that don't fish.

I love to fish!! On my recent trip to Little Creek, we went out for an entire day.....but all we caught was a few skates and about 250-300 croaker.......

....we gave them away when we got back.

Around here, however, I never seem to find the time......and like I said, have no pole or tackle left.

patience, young Jedi....

Been racking my brain all week and still can't decide what to do. THP usually posts the official rules and the the "GO!" in the afternoon.

...i tried for an hour to get the darn thing to post, but the site kept rejecting my pics.
Oh well, i had made Tex-Mex Shrimp Enchiladas... tasted great, but some of the other entries pics are just plain awesome looking.
I'll pass along the recipe if anyone is interested.

Bummer, Coach. Yep - as a Tejas transplant, I'd love to get your recipe.

Sorry to hear that. Rejecting pics? Never heard of that. Use the IMG tags with the URL in between. Next time you can get some help.

Coach, were you trying to load the pictures directly (which doesn't work) or use a picture hosting service like Photobucket or Flicker (which is required)? Here's a link to a post started by Josh, it's a good thread for posting pictures.

I'd like to invite you to post your pics here, even though you missed the throwdown. We'd love to see what you did! Call it practice for next month ?!? ;)

Geeme posted about this in the throwdown thread before it was locked, so I just wanted to reply here, hope it gets seen~

To geeme-

You are correct in looking at the picture of the peppers. I received a packet of "mystery peppers" seeds and both of those peppers are from those mystery pepper plants. The big chunky one is from a plant that has produced many pods, but they all get a rotten spot at the low point of the pepper as it's hanging on the plant. Have not had one ripen yet. The green pepper itself is very mild. I ended up not using that pepper for the throwdown, only the thin ones.

We've had one of the thin ones ripen to a beautiful red color. None were ripe right now, so the green ones got used and they are a really nice "serrano-esque" type heat. I don't think they are as hot as a cayenne, but they worked great for the pico de gallo and the fish.

And welcome!

You mean POOF!

If I had started 5 minutes earlier....I would not have made it. I was literally uploading my photos to Photobucket at 15 till 9 (10 EST). (I took nearly 100 pictures....and probably didn't choose the best ones.) I was also up till 11 cleaning my trashed kitchen!

Where's the poll? Paul you knocked it out of the park on this one!

Thankyasir! I just wish I had submitted better photos. Grilled seafood is my new all-time favorite (The BEST were the prawns and the scallops--out of this world good!!).....and that crab-cheese fondue is amazing!!

Salsalady,

Thanks for your reply. Trying to post my first pic - my baby cowhorn plant. So far I haven't had the problem you've been having. Unlike yours, too, mine was quite hot, which is part of why I'm wondering if the label on it was correct.

Best wishes on the throwdown!
