NFL Season 2011

The NFL kicks off a full slate of games tomorrow.

The Thursday night season opener saw Green Bay open up where they left off with an offense filled game with the Saints, which should have left Boutros in a festive mood. ;)

Any of you NFL fans out there have any foresight into who might go deep into the playoffs this season and maybe ultimately be hoisting the Lombardi trophy overhead come February?
 :woohoo:

I boldly predict the Chiefs will win four, maybe five games!

Yikes!!! That's it?

They did win their division last year, but expect San Diego to be better, especially if they are finally able to get off to a good start this year.

How long is KC's QB Matt Cassel expected to be out for?

dvg

Yep 'Skins...sans Donavon McNabb and Albert Haynesworth this year.

The Shannies think they can get it done with sexy Rexy at QB...i'm not so certain, but they will have a good test against the Giants tomorrow!

dvg

The San Diego Super-Chargers...why not?

They have as good a chance as anyone and are not in a particularly strong division in the AFC West.

In the past poor starts have plagued them...we'll see if Norv Turner can get them focused and off to a good start this year.

Awfully quiet in here......

Yeah, only the first week of the season, and it usually takes a bit before things start to heat up a bit, and a few more games need to be played to see who's who in the zoo.

I see your 'Skins won yesterday and i watched most of that game.

The game that surprised me the most was the way the Ravens manhandled the Steelers yesterday.

Those two usually play very close 3 point games...i'm expecting Pittsburgh will be looking for some sweet redemption when those two next meet on the Steelers home turf.

that Steelers and Ravens was also a surprise, but I think the Ravens age will hurt them down the road. I am pretty happy that the Chargers won, but the next task will be difficult against the Patriots if they play the same way they did against the Vikings. The Skins next game should be difficult on their running game, but if the do the same thing the Panthers did and air it out on the that weak secondary it should be a win or come down to last possession and make Rex Grossman look like the first round talent he was suppose to be.

Socal, that should be a fun game next weekend between the Pats and the Super-Chargers.

SD held Donovon McNabb to only 39 yards passing and Henne for Miami shredded the Pat's D for 416 yards passing last night.

Philip Rivers is a better passer than Henne, and also has better weapons, so it'll be interesting to see how that game plays out next Sunday in Foxborough.

Lets not forget, Oakland dominated their division 6-0. Kansas City just happened to win more games. Then they got they're a$$ kicked first round of the playoffs.
My pick is Oakland to make it to the second round if they keep they're ego in check. .

Yeah, Oakland swept their division in the AFC west last year, but went 2-8 with the rest of their games, failing to make the playoffs.

Then they fire Tom Cable as their head coach after he gave them their first non-losing season in a few years...i still think that San Diego wins that division this year, but it's still early and things can change...but if SD doesn't do well this year, Norv is probably done there.

the SD game is going to be a GB and saints game all over would take the over definitely. While Oakland def looked great on monday and will beat KC, since they lost their heart of that secondary which was Eric Berry for the season. While Oakland went undefeated last year in the division it was from SD crappy special teams, but it looks Oakland problem will be penalty issues again with that front line and lack of secondary. I think that why they implemented more secondary blitz packages, which was going crazy on Denver. It is something SD can pickup especially with Rivers recognizing and Tolbert protecting, which would lead to exposing Oakland weakness. Loved watching Dez Bryant expose Darrelle Revis as a fraud claiming to be the best CB in the game come on and I am not a cowboys fan but it was great to watch.

Obvious hardcore Oakland fan here, but I will say SD has a shot this year. However, SD has blown it year after year in the past 4+ years. This year might be different, but only time will tell. In the meantime I will keep Oakland up there in the playoffs so long as they don't keep up with the "after the play contact" and the offsides.
The firing of Tom Cable was rediculous and may become their downfall, however there is still a lot young talent that may surprise everyone. I also say that there should have been a wild card for the Raiders last year. If Seattle can get in with a 7-9 record just because they beat their division rivals, then Oakland should have faced KC on more time prior to the full swing of the playoffs. But I digrest, this year will be interesting to say the least.

I feel for you Aaron, being a Raiders fan. I too, was once a Raiders fan, watching all of their games and cheering for them from 1980 up until 2005.

I thought they really had a shot to win the title with Rich Gannon at the controls, until they ran into a thrashing machine in the form of Tampa Bay in that 2003 Superbowl, when they were thoroughly trounced...ouch that one really hurt.

I stuck with them for a couple more seasons, but it became obvious to me that as long as owner Al Davis was continually meddling with his team and keeping his coaches in a virtual straightjacket, Oakland would continue to struggle.

I think the game has passed Mr. Davis by, and Oakland won't be winning too many titles as long as that owner continues to interfere with his coaching staff.

So finally after years of living and dying Raiders football, i said enough is enough and chose another better managed team to follow.

100% with you dvg. At this point Al Davis should do what Jerry Jones did after Jimmy Johnson left. Be the coach!!. Sadly he doesn't look like he'll be leaving anytime soon :(
Then there's the Seahawks. Being born and raised here in WA I still root them on. I was even lucky enough to make it to the game against the saints when we caused that earthquake. But what the hell were we doing this past Sunday against San Francisco. A bad game, but I guess it could be worse. We could have lost 41-6. Haha KC. :)
