I know a lot of the people who advocate for topping comment on the initial burst of growth. Those opposed mention that a plant only has so much energy to give and topping isn't "creating" more energy for the plant. Something to consider I think is the life of the plant for 2-3 years thereafter...

Ha sorry people...I lost..sabotaged myself when a volleyball crushed my plant early on..and pretty sure his peppers were on steroids! Next year revising to do most weight in peppers produced by one plant...and I'm overwintering this sucker to stayahead of the game!

To be honest my ghost peppers were my most productive plant and i have a pretty short season here in central new york( conpared to a lot of californians on this forum lol) .They got the biggest and produced the most besides those little dragon cayennes of course. I Dont know if it makes a...

So far this year I have made 2 different batches of hot sauce and currently drying some in the oven to make crushed red pepper. What are some other things are you guys doing with this type of pepper this year. Mostly just looking for ideas :-D

I could be wrong on this but there usually isnt any heat at the very tip of most peppers

If its the plants first pepper a lot of times it will be very small .the rest will get bigger..2 inches I believe

Yes I second that. Definitely need a good oxygen hook up. You can find cheap air pump and tube to set up at walmart.

For what its worth I started with the water touching the bottom of the basket and they flourished...next time I filled it I left it a little lower for the roots to reach but still slightly submerged and they were laying flat wilted when I got home from work.

A drain plug would help tremendously ...I struggled to keep up with mine just for the constant upkeep. And I would germ in rockwool then put into baskets. Easier to keep it warm then keep your whole container warm Also keep on top of your notes, things can go south very fast. Good luck to you!:-D
