health Wilting leaves with black spots

It looks like an insect problem. Looking at the leaves you can see a bunch on the bottom of them. Hard to tell from the photo but it looks like possible spider mites. You need to spray these immediately as the infestation looks quite severe. Good luck

    favorite Favorite Jalopeno

In recent years I've grown Jalapeno M, Biker Billy, and Grande. They are all great, but heat and size wise Biker Billy and the Grande were the best.

    Moving house

You shouldn't have any problems at all. Think about the growers like Cross country nursery or the chile woman who box their plants up and ship them all over the place. Those survive in a box, getting tossed around by multiple delivery guys, traveling across state lines over a period of a couple...

    Patrick's 2011 Grow Log

Sorry about your bad luck this season. Luckily it is still early in the season and all those plants should make a full recovery. I've cut plants back mid season and they responded with a ton of new growth, flowers and pods. I've also had a few plants that lost all their leaves due to sunburn and...

    Matt Berry's 2011 Growlog

Finally, it's warm enough outside to actually start moving some of the plants outside. The last couple of weeks were a little rough on them as they were cramped for space and I was only running 2 lights. I also ran out of fertilizer and haven't had a chance to pick up more. Anyways I took these...

    Matt Berry's 2011 Growlog

Wow, it's already been a month since my last update. Sorry that I don't have any individual shots of the plants, I have so many packed into a small area and they are getting big. Most are between 2 1/2 - 4 1/2 feet tall, it's crazy how big these are, and I still have a couple more weeks before...

    Root Bound Pots

If they are severely root bound don't be afraid to rough up the roots a bit. I grab them from the bottom and rip the root ball in half or even quarters about 1/4 - 1/3 of the way up. Then I'll take my hands and rough up, tear, pull the roots that are in the shape of the pot so they spread out a...

    Pot Size

If you are planting in the ground you may want to spread them out a little more 1' is way too close, minimum would be 18" - 2'. In pots you can put them closer as you can spread them out more as the season progresses, plant them too close and the grow into each other and begin competing for...

    Pot Size

All of those listed would benefit from at least a 5 gallon and would do really well in a 7. The 2.5 gallon just really limits the overall size of the plants and yields are also greatly reduced, non scientific here but it seams like a 50% reduction. I've grown in containers for years and the 5...

    Pot Size

2.5 gallon will limit the growth potential of your plants, ideally the 5 gallon pots would be the bare minimum I'd use as a final container. I normally use 5,7 and 10 gallon containers for growing, the 5 gallon work well but it doesn't take long for them to become root bound in them, then leaves...

It's amazing how fast these things grow, I'm quickly running out of room. I have a few of them potted up to the 2.5 gallon nursery pots. Right side of the crowded grow area Left side Serrano Del Sol Already has a few pods setting

    Matt Berry's 2011 Growlog

Some of it depends on the type of plant you are growing, annuum's grow faster then chinense varietys do. If you don't have heat mats (80-85f) then your germination times will be increased, peppers also grow slower when their soil is colder. Having a good quality potting soil helps, the lighter /...
