    Healthy plants yellowing

I have heard that using aluminum sulfate provides immediate effects to the soil PH, but can be rather dangerous. Once I can confirm the PH levels are high in alkaline in my pots I will decide on going a more drastic measure. I cant' afford to wait for months at this point, as the growing season...

    Healthy plants yellowing

Okay, thanks scotchnaga. I will attempt a control and let the probe sit longer tonight. I am also told that elemental sulfur could take months to have any effect. If my soil is truly high in alkaline the sulfur will most likely not correct the plants in enough time. I have read about 2...

    Healthy plants yellowing

It's a probe. I didn't have time to run a control test yesterday, I can today. I did see the needle change though from pot to pot, after being cleaned. They all obviously still registered over 7 to about close to 8.

Hmm... then how in the world does each potted plant have a PH higher then 7? Like I mentioned before, I only watered from the hose once or twice in the past month. We've just had torrential rains otherwise. I only used pro-mix and earth worm castings as the soil, with a handful of manure. I'm...

    Healthy plants yellowing

Thanks nzchili. I got a PH tester yesterday at a local nursery, as well as some organic and all natural soil acidifier, which lowers the PH in soils using elemental sulfur. All pots checked out over 7 in the PH scale, meaning the alkalinity of the rain in my area must be horrible. I have rarely...

You state you added sulfur to your plants, exactly how did you do that? It sounds like it could be a reasonably simple fix. I'll see if a local nursery has something I can check the soil PH with.

Thanks for the replies all. I guess what makes the most sense for me is the nitrogen. The only source of nitrogen these plants got was a handful of composted manure at planting, planted well into the bottom of the pot. I can't see that being an issue, but its plausible. The only way to actually...

    Healthy plants yellowing

The peak summer temps here are around 100+, we have yet to have extended period of time at those temps though. Many days its mid 80s-90s but feels over 100 with the humidty etc.. Yeah, I guess I have no choice but to wait it out and see, I'd hate to stress them out even more by moving them from...

    Healthy plants yellowing

Hi all,     I was a long time user a ways back, and got out of growing peppers and now recently have started again. To make a long story short, I planted a few plants at the end of May in pots in my back yard, as the soil here at my new house is too poor and I didn't have the time to make raised...

    Plants go limp!

If they arent properly hardened, it could be a range of things. I would say wind and heat being the prevailing cause.

    Flat leaf....?

If by wavy you mean wrinkled then yes, thats completely normal. Majority of all my Chinese have really wrinkled leaves. Its their signature.

I could take a stab and could possibly say that it may be ... Reimers? Terrible, regardless.

Where can I get Pro-Mix BX?

Its weird because my local nursery was not listed as a "Pro-Mix Retailer," but they had Pro-Mix BX. It seemed strange, but I guess if they dont have any other kind they arent considered a retailer? Not sure of why, but found it quite stupid.

    Valley View Farms

Its funny you mention that. They have EVERY SINGLE type of Pro-Mix there ........ except BX. Which totally sucked. As listed retailers, you'd think they'd have it, but they dont. They best they got there is Pro-Mix for potting (Orange bag) in a 2 cubic ft compressed bail. They also have organic...

    What's up with my plants?

Its your soil. I'd get them out ASAP. I had the same thing happen to me, but with my seedlings, using MG Organic. The problem is the stuff turns to concrete, and it barely has any nutes in it at all. I switched and put them into some Pro-Mix. Nothing but dark leaves from there on out. If you...

    Choose my ferts!

Choosing when to water isnt necessarily a science, I believe different methods work best for certain people in different situations. The humidity, temperature, size of plants, size of containers... etc... I personally water in the evening, around 5-6pm when there's only a few hours of sunlight...

Mites are hard to kill even with insecticides. I'd suggest taking it naturally with predatory mites or lady bugs.

pics Yellow-green plants....many of them....ugh....(with pics). advice, please

Sometimes you just cant get things right no matter how hard you try. I grew 20 seedlings perfect first round this year, and now my second batch of them have all yellowed like yours. I figured it was too much water. But its not to late to correct things. If they're going out in the ground...

    Choose my ferts!

I always recommend Espoma Tomato Tone. Its really simple, and takes place of using a bunch of different fertilizers.
