BrandonB's 2019 glog!!

Wanted to wait until some signs of life were showing before starting the glog, and here we are.

Will be an outdoor container grow in humid north Florida. Will probably end with at least 10 cultivars.

Hopefully the heat and pests will be kind to me this season!!

Without further ado some 7 pot choccy and sepia serpent that are just starting their lives! Will be putting about 5 more varieties into towels tonight!!   Also i apologize for the terrible quality, im a shaky fella and my phone is rather poor. :D

(How long do you guys usually let radicles go before putting into medium?)

Everything so far. Think I will be using Tuesday-Wed to dump photos for progress.

Germination isn't going as fast as I'd like but so far every variety I have left in towels is showing at least one tail.

Nagabrains yellow should have some siblings soon. Douglah and skunk chocolate look to be the next to hit mix, and hopefully within the next week or so I will be finished with paper towels. Though I have strains I haven't tried and you know how that goes!!!

Good things happening there, Brandon!

I see you have Security Gnomes. Awesome.

Courtesy of the lady of course.   She says that they say encouraging things to the sprouts  :D .

Tried my hand at @walchits nail clipper technique for helmet head on a reaper sprout and lets just say i might be down one reaper.....

4 Skunk chocolate tails were put into medium last night and 2 douglah should follow later on tonight, the rest of the nagabrains yellows may also hit medium tonight but they look a little slower than their sibling.

Weather is great, could be more clear, though Im already able to have my plants outdoors 24h a day unless a heavy rain scare happens, so im blessed with that.

Im going to do some counting tonight to see where i stand as of total number, my goal is 25-35 which i think is plenty for a complete hobby grow.

Picked up some coco and lets just say i have absolutely no idea how this stuff hasnt put peat moss completely out of demand.   All sustainability aside i dont see a single reason why i would buy peat over this.

The coco came in easy to handle bricks, weighed less, and ISNT SO HYDROPHOBIC THAT YOU CAN HEAR IT CRY WHEN YOU PUT WATER ON IT. (looking at you peat moss).

Idk why coco isnt more readily available here, even the stuff i bought was trying to work as a gimmick sale of "expanding potting soil".

As for the peppers, i put a stunt on a naga-yellow trying to do helmet head surgery, still waiting for its siblings to make their way into medium.   Two more douglahs, and a single devils brain and everything will be in dirt.

As of now it looks like ill be hitting the 30 plant number right on the head!!

Will post picture updates tuesday as i think just about everything will be in dirt by then.  Thanks for stopping by!!

Also wondering if there are any for sure markers you guys use to pot up for the first time?

Second set of true leaves?
I go into beverage cups as soon as
Cotys are green. Then into the 2-liter
pots at six weeks.

Weekly picture updates. (Sorry for another textwall then photo dump, but the mobile version is giving me trouble.)

Added a good bit since last week. Most of what I'll grow is shown. Brought them in due to a good ole Florida thunderstorm that's coming through. Didn't wanna lose em.

Plants are coming along nicely. Zero deaths so far at any stage. True leaves are starting to show in order of age which makes me feel like everything is going smooth.

Growth isn't as much as I'd like for a week, but temps are still a littttttleee low, and they have yet to see a full-sun day.

Also featured is a picture of a mangled reaper I attempted nail cutter surgery on. Growth is steady on it but man it's ugly .

I'll start my feed on the oldest tomorrow or the next day depending on the rain. They're sitting in a nutrient free mix and I imagine they're starting to get hungry.

A sneaky hard rain completely wiped a couple of plants that were under a drip edge on the porch. A jalapeno for sure and up to two devils brain. Kinda sad to lose half of both varieties but also not mad at the added space. Will post my weekly picture update tomorrow as usual. And good growing folks!!

I feel kinda bad that you used my helmet tech and it was unsuccessful.

I don't have great results, but I start so many seeds that it doesnt really hurt my feelings if one doesn't make it.

Check out this botched circumcision... Lol

Here it is next to one that was planted either the same day or later on.

Then there is this poor guy. Surrounded by flourishing peppers lol

Paul probably has the better tech for helmet removal.

Haha it's really not a problem Walchit, figured I'd give it a shot and maybe it would work like a dream.

The reaper i hurt is doing fine and the Nagabrains was re-seeded so really no loss.

As for the rain I lost a jalapeno for sure and I think I salvaged the devils brain. Will post photos later when I get them inside. Temps are supposed to hit 32 tonight.

Photo dump mainly for me to track progress!! Plants are doing great. Nothing burnt up from getting fed which is great.

7pot chocolates are showing second set of true leaves. Growth all around isn't superb but it's still chilly and overcast lately. Hoping for a few full-sun days next week to help get these guys going!!

Looking good my fellow Florida grow brother, pests arent that bad as long as you deal with em swift.
Heat level good and spicy
Thanks man, always great to see a fellow Floridian!! I wanted to get my hands into some super hots and see what I really like. Now I'm thinking about adding some more annuums

On that note, when do you guys think is too late to start annuums here? 120 days puts me in July so I think I'm still safe for a little while to start seeds.

Yeah buddy. Annums are good, getting some too this year. As for starts, its not really too late down here even if you are north FL. My plants hit dirt in July last year so your pretty safe on plant out. Not sure when you guys get first frost, prob dec or Jan Id imagine
