My adopted babies

I think I am having some hydroponic growth issues. That plant you see in the above pics is getting the GH 3 part nutes and I put in 7 cups of water and if I recall about 5...or maybe 7ml of each nute and the plant is not showing any new root or plant growth. Its not dying but its not growing. Just seem to be maybe "maintaining" any suggestions what amounts of each nute I should use for 7 cups of water? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well I totally slipped last week. I am going to make up for it though this week. I am going to take pics this Friday and will post them on Monday. All I got to say is DANG!!! My plants have just gone BOOM. I have been using that Bottled Alaskan Eskimo Poop....I mean Fish Emulsion. I did the converting and mixed in the correct proportions in my 32oz spray bottle and have been spraying the plants every few days with it. I still have a couple plants that are super tiny but in time we will see what happens with them I guess. Well stay tuned for the pics on Monday. I do think you all will enjoy what has happened in two weeks.

WEEK 5

Here it is. I warned you it was coming so I hope your all ready for it. There is a huge difference in growth except for that hydro plant. I may put that back into dirt and see if I can get it to catch up to the others since im having some kind of issues.

Hope you all have enjoyed.

You started the hydro plant in soil? If so, it is going to take a bit for it to switch itself over to a water root plant, from what I understand anyways. I did this with a short yellow tabasco, it took a good week to two weeks for it to convert to water roots. Give it some time to get used to its new growing situation and it will come around for you. Keep misting it with that fish fert, it should help as the soil roots aren't really doing much. I remember removing my SYT to see what was going on and noticed new roots forming at the base of the main stem, figured these must be the new "water" roots. So ya, just give it some more time.

It just seems like the hydro system I did last year, everything took off so fast. Maybe its me. Well I haven't been spraying the hydro plant with the fish fert so maybe I will start doing that too. This is my second year doing hydro so Im still a little new at all of this.

Oh yeah they are very happy. I have had my wife and the kids look at and smell the fish emulsion...lol funny thing is they say they dont want to smell it but they look at it and then the smell hits them...lol I just need to get two small sticks for those blushing beauties so they dont curl over or tip. Other than that yes they are looking quite well and happy. Last night we found a cool little raised bed kit in the Tractor Supply add and for only $30 we are thinking of getting a few of them. Hopefully I will be able to get these kids out in some nice soil. I also need to pick up some of that compost from the Bunker Hills site when ever they open. :)

crazy dude,
the hydroponics should work good

if they seem slow maybe first thing to do is
change the water and be careful to measure the nutes into it
for the new batch

the raised bed things for $30 maybe you can price the material
and reverse engineer it better and for less $
:woohoo:
i think the plants won't mind you
not getting that products advertizing paid for either
even if it is on sale try to buy for less $

Well here is the initial idea. I was going to build a raised bed the was 12'x4'x 18". Now it wasn't exact because there were a few things I couldn't get priced but with what I do have its at least $200. The lumber I priced was also regular not the treated stuff like I should get. So this $30 kit is 46"x46"x5.5". From what I see on the picture it looks like you could buy multiples and possibly stack them. Last night when I was talking to the wife about it I tried to figure out if this would be more financially sound and still build what we want. She didn't like the idea that the on bed would cost over $200. i dont mind so much and I can justify spending money...lol I want to grow my peppers but we also want to do some veges. The parts in the kit are also made with resin so they will (should) last for ever. Maybe we should build 4 raised beds with the kits than 1 big one?

sorry, would like to help,
but i can not do your value analysis
without all the variables

the cost of materials can be more or less
than the kit or you can buy the kit for the "special pieces"
it is your project.

please post up pictures of your builds we all like pepper porn

This might be easier... I couldn't find the kit on the Tractor Supply store site I did find it somewhere else online and its even the exact same picture as the add. Anyway this is the kit and what it look's like.

Week 6 BAMM!!!

Man my plants are LOVING the fish emulsion. I cant wait to get these babies out in a new garden....after I dig up the new garden for them. Im not going to have to worry about loosing these due to them being to small and drowning in water this year, like what happened last year. Well here are the pics. Hope you all enjoy. I know I am.

And now for a GREAT update on the hydro plant. Check out real closely at what is coming out of the sides and bottom of the net pot. :)
WATER ROOTS BABY!!!

Oh yeah. Whats really cool is when you dont look at them for a while and then pull the cover back and they look like they are 100 times bigger from when you last looked at them. I love that..lol So Musky, just out of curiosity are yours about the same size?

Mine are about the same height as your taller ones, but bushier. I did keep the best plants for myself though. My Blushing Beauties are nowhere near as tall as yours. I haven't started any hydro either. Been too busy lately. Congrats on the roots!

Well I found out yesterday that the Bunker Hills Compost site is open now so hopefully in the next couple weeks I will dig the garden out and get some compost. We are holding off on actually "building" anything for now so I am going to dig a 12'x4'x6" deep spot in the yard. Then my thought was to take out all/most of the dirt (not sure what to do with it yet) and then fill the "hole" with 8 cubic ft. of the compost. :)

WEEK 7

Well I got a nice big FAT update with all sorts of pics. Man I hope these plants do just as amazing if not more so once I get them outside. Weill I wont keep you waiting. Here they are.

Here are the Blushing beauties, the hydro, and a few others. Not a lot of growth yet on the hydro but there has been more root growth and I upped the flowering and grow nutes just a titch to see if that will help.

All the pictures below I took two shots of each set of plants just to get a better idea of growth and to enjoy them all together. :)
