When are you going to re-pot Drathag? Those poor roots

They've got some more room now as a lot of the roots from the culled plants are breaking down. I'll start hardening them off very soon but most are destined for a garden bed and its still below 10C most nights, so they may be in cups for a few weeks yet unfortunately.

Potting up!
Up to the penultimate pot.
Last mobile pot before it finds a permanent home.

That side growth might be early exposure to some descent rays Karoo. Plants are growing nicely

Like the light Damien - Is that 5 x 10W ?

Here's a quick update. The three smaller plants are in the tent. KAOS and Audrey II relegated to patio for now.
Got some leaf burn on Audrey due to hitting it with some bug spray, but new growth this morning seems healthy.
Both are around 55cm, but Audrey filling out due to being topped.

Neat neat job on the light Damien. Love the RGB on the leaves.

 NOW HEAR THIS

Officially I now enter "KAOS" for forking - 90 days (the last untopped Amarillo)

Officially I now enter "Aquarillo" for flowering - 90 days (topped and growing Kratky method)

Not sure on rules for flowering, but its just broken petals. Don't mind revising days if it's for full open flower.

ooh!

Question for general consensus:

Does the forking, flowering, etc, have to all be the same plant?

I'm happy to say it doesn't. No locking in plants until harvests is my vote.

And yeah, i'll say that a flower.

So, unless vote causes revision, 90 and 90 to KAOS! well done!

That first flower , always a thing of beauty!

Mine still going against the flow here , deciding to be a bush and not a tree. With a side branch at every single leaf.

Can't argue with that.

Your plant is looking great and to be fair I would have preferred a bush growth over a tree growth. Your plant is going to rock pod numbers when it kicks off.

That's the great thing about this competition ... yes mine have gone a bit postal, but they may only pop 10 pods over the season.

What I'm interested in (for next season's experiments) is what all you guys do as a final planting/potting method. This will tell a very interesting story.

Shout out to Powelly - Where you been dude. Gone for over a month now.

Horizontal sprawl?
Early caging recommended?
Thank you Devv.
Yes, definitely cage early, and train your branches vertically, until they go over the top of the cage. It's the best way to make the aji amarillo plant understand that it can put out hundreds of pods, without worrying about snapping it's branches off. Here is a pic of my two caged aji amarillo plants this year. They still sprawl horizontally a bit, but without the cages they would never have produced so many pods, or been able to support all of these pods weight. I've already pulled easily 100+ ripe pods off of these plants this year, and there are still another 100+ that are ripening.

But I'll tell ya about it anyway...

Both Amarillos are now permanently in the greenhouse/tent, permanently until the risk of frost is gone...

No.1 now has some nice big shoes... 40cm pot, with a great mix.

Aaaaand, I went past the 1/4 point without realising it!

So I thought I'd give us an official update!
