Ok HATERS....take Cover...I'm going to do the one thing that you dozen or so HATERS hate the most...tell the truth and give you facts...which you seem to always ignore.

I remember back in corporate America when I ran 350 stores on the East Coast for a fortune 500 company...when we had to deal with thieves and get confessions out of them with our Loss Prevention partners......we had a private joke ....the thieves always said when cornered 'Don't confuse me with the facts'. (our inside joke because they hated facts) But we usually busted them and fired them or sent them to jail anyway.
These few HATERS apparently hate the facts....because they constantly ignore them and don't acknowledge them when you answer them back.
My Fiance Penny and my Employees and Friends ask me....WHY answer the HATERS back? "You justify their nonsense Joe". Then I say "Yes, I guess you're right"....so I agree to ignore the HATERS...but then I'll see a ridiculous post (like $10 bucks is too much for the new worlds hottest pepper...but the HATERS sure ARE entitled to voice their opinion....but then they ignore the facts (like I spend $100,000 per year in Free Catalogs and Facebook marketing + many other expenses) they ignore the facts in your answer so I get sucked back into responding. My team ask me WHY even respond Joe? And I always give the same answer. If ONE newbie that joins THP or ONE visitor sees this bull---- ......I just can't risk that they may actually just buy it because they don't have the rest of the facts.
I won't tolerate that.

I've tried to be a gentleman....and the last 2 days I did PM 4 of these HATERS....and that backfired too. You just can't reason with HATERS. Impossible.
But I do understand the HATERS mentality....many of the dozen HATERS tried selling seeds, hot sauces or some product in our industry....and failed miserably. I can give you examples...2 of them came to me crying to buy their product.
Sorry...it's not my fault that you failed...so don't be jealous of us successful folks. That's just not right.
Sometimes on THP I feel like it's the first day of Hunting Season on Seed Vendors....I've seen the HATERS attack other seed vendors too.
They feel they are entitled to free seeds and free shipping.
They are not.
Hear what qbvbsite and others say.... A few glibly proclaim "I've never paid for seeds"...more power to you Bro. But don't knock me because I want to sell seeds for a profit. YEA, a PROFIT. There I said it. I'd like to make some MONEY. A dirty word. Capitalism. Supply and demand. I don't come to your house and say "But my seeds or I'll hurt you"....just don't buy them . But qbvbsite has a dozen negative posts here..."Boycott Pepper Joe's"...."he's ripping us off"....."shipping is too high"...and when I answer with facts they IGNORE them....after they did the damage. Two of these guys own THEIR OWN Chilehead websites and seed companies. They have a LOT more credibility with me than a dozen HATERS. One of the website owners blasted qb James from Canada when he posted "Sadly, I cannot buy the Reaper at $10 bucks" for posting such a silly thing and he said it contributed nothing to this forum after he whined aobut the price and shipping in 10 posts. One poster here (mentioned in the names above...who always makes PERFECT sense in his posts) said to "go in the woods and pick free wild peppers". Look we're all entitled to our opinions here...but to keep blasting a business over and over because you are a HATER is wrong. Thank God for the 95% positive folks here.
THANK YOU AGAIN for all of your support, emails and PM. I know many of you are fed up because a few of the HATERS have 1,000's of posts and try to dominate this forum. Your opinion is just as important as the dozen HATERS....so don't let them intimidate you.

One last thing on the HATERS....they launched a viscious attack in my original post on the HP22B AKA Carolina Reaper at http://thehotpepper....tion-for-hp22b/ Please read the first paragraph. I was just trying to share information in a naive way. Ahead of the curve. Most of what I said has been proven true. Some things need to still be validated more publicly....I'll leave that to Ed Currie....that's his side of the partnership. But AGAIN, Ed is 100% credable. That post had 29,000+ views, 470 comments and was maybe the most popular post this year in THP. Should I have let these dozen HATERS just run over my credability? NOT IN THIS LIFETIME. And again, THANK YOU for all of your support during those 29,000 posts....and not letting the HATERS and antagonists take over THP. Us other folks get a say too.
Even if we don't have thousands of posts yet.
Constructive debate is GREAT....personal attacks are NOT and I'll answer them back with the same tenacity or more.
Is it a good call that we need to show more validation on the testing? Sure, I think so. But again, it's coming....and Ed will do it in his timeframe and his way.
Ed is a top class act and has my total loyalty.
Finally, in a way these HATERS are attacking my Family.
I've built a successful business for 24 years (many of those years while I was a VP busy with other responsibilities).
That's a lot of hard work.
Ed is currently doing the same thing....transitioning to this full time.
One motivation I have (besides making MONEY....OOPs...said it TWICE :shame: ) is my Family.
I'm 58 years old now and look ahead to chilling a little more and enjoying life....not that I don't now...just more.
(Some friends and family will challenge me that I can't do it).
BUT...I do look ahead at passing a successful company along to mine and Penny's Children....or Grandchildren...or Nephews or Nieces....whomever proves to be most competent, interested, etc. They better like Hot Peppers. LOL.
When I get these HATERS attacks on my company and our future (NOT constructive critisism....refer to the Vendors Vault for that)...that is an attack on the future of my family and I take that very personal...not business but personal.
I just won't accept the attacks easily. I promise the HATERS that.
Let me end this on a positive note.
Today was Ed's big press release. I look forward to Ed continuing to spread his awesome message....meanwhile...Things are hopping. Orders are flying in. Emails are arriving by the ton....mostly very positive. Newspapers and TV stations are reaching out...what a high!
I need to focus more on managing all of that, and not this petty nonsense and drama.

I ask to you what facts are you taking about? Many agree we currently have seen nothing to support your claims and yet you are selling it as you have those facts in hand. Also all the post's I made were my opinion and not telling others what to think.... I said "I" was boycotting this pepper.... I said "I" thought (and still do) $10 for 10 seeds is to much.... I said "I" thought shipping was gouging customers..... people can come up with there own conclusions. I was informing the people on my views on this pepper so they can make their own judgement. This is not non-sense drama we at THP have valid questions that we still don't have answers to. Also I am a customer... a potential one.. I have spent over $200+ on pepper related things this year from vendors on this forum and promoted them to other THP members because they are top notch which IMO you are not. The way you handle your self and treat your customers is no way to run a business.

I'm sorry about my response but its not being a "Hater" as you jump to conclusions labeling me. Its being an un-happy customer, your site says ask for a refund and get it, refund me then.

I jumped on the HP22B bandwagon, and enthused others to also, then you dropped shipping costs which were inflated to begin with, and no wonder us "haters" as you call us got a bit pissed that your 50% of product shipping cost was a slap in the face to us "early adopters for orders"

other sellers would have just issued back the shipping cost and thanked there early customers

Just issue me a refund, and don't ship my seeds. it seems that you have a back log of seeds to ship, and "supplies running out ORDER NOW!!", just pull my name off my package and send it to another user, "who is dying to get there hands on them", I really have no care/want to grow them after communications with you. Otherwise I'll just let paypal deal with it, since your neglecting shipping them out and providing any sort of proof to shipping, ill let the truth speak for itself.

As stated before I received a few Carolina Reepers. I must say that this are one good tasting chili, for my palate. I sensed it to be very fruity, with a bold taste. It was smooth compared to that sharp bite given to us by the TSBT or TSMB. Anywho, watch the video if you have any questions about it let me know if I can't answer them right away i'll eat another. i personally have no issues with the price of the seeds nor the shipping, what i have a problem with the the way the pepper was prmoted and hyped. for everyone, step outside the box and READ what i am posting, i ma hating on anyone, i am just stating my complaint as a potential customer.
the pepper was hyped before it even had a name, we were all pumped/intrigued over a new world record holder
as time progressed there were some valid questions that came about.
just recently it was released that labor day weekend the seeds would go for sale and a press release would be had to answer all our questions about this new WORLD RECORD pepper
well lots of questions were being asked on origin, what was crossed with what, is it stable, how do you get f8 in 4-5 years, what was the high SHU result, what are the avereages. and the parties involved began beating around the bush and not giving answers.
then BAM seeds go for sale(this is the problem i have) you all are selling seeds claiming them to be the worlds hottest, and have the highest average SHU, but no documentation has been shown to us or the world stating the numbers, so you are lying to your customers, you are selling worlds hottest pepper seeds baesd on what someone said. and by releasing them for sale early you make it look like you were lying the whole time(NOT SAYING YOU ARE JUST WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE).

SO WHEN WILL THE ANSWERS TO THE QUESTIONS TAKE PLACE???? WHEN ARE WE GOING TO SEE NUMBERS AS TEST RESULTS???? i just think it was VERY bad business take the actions you did.

i personally feel that if you would have provided proof that the peppers was THE HOTTEST, or that it had the HIGHEST average, then most of this thread would not exist as most people would have been ok paying the price you asked for the seeds as you are sell seeds that have proof of the claims.

just my $.02, i am neither her nor there, just staring an observation from the outside. everyone needs to make the money for their families, but i think the participating parties could have done a better job about it.

Read my post again. I never said the shipping should be free nor implied it. I was talking to someone who saw 30 dollars for Moruga seeds and didn't buy them. They were saying that as an argument for the Hp22b's price. I also thought I'd show them where to get Moruga seeds for a good price just in case they wanted to get them for next season. I cannot say anything about Judy's business model, but she is in the business and has better deals on the varieties she carries.

So you don't have to dig back to page 12!

By no means do I think Guinness is the authority when it comes to proof of the worlds hottest pepper (Naga Viper anyone?), but if they have HPLC results in their possession, why not just release it? A simple link to a PDF on their respective websites would be sufficient.

I am also not calling Ed a liar, but this whole HP22B rollout has been a fiasco from the start. It's probably a good lesson on what not to do for the next challenger to get their ducks in a row before actually making claims and selling seeds. Ed may very well have the worlds hottest pepper by average or peak scovilles, so I'll wait patiently for some sort of proof. Until then, let the circus continue...

Nice pics mega. I don't think they look like primos. I have a lot of primos growing :) .

Edit: Also, I think Ed said it took him 4 years for F8s. It should be possible to get two growing seasons, especially with greenhouses. I'm working on a 5 year plan for F8 crosses, which include a 7 pot original x bhut jolokia :) . On a side note, they should be pretty homogeneous after F7. At F8 they are typically homogeneous enough to be considered stable. It could also occur earlier than F7 or F8, since genetic homogeneity varies.

Only the fiasco quote was aimed at you. I have seen no fiasco other than the made up one about some sort of dishonesty because the results aren't out yet, and the demand that they release these results immediately. I don't believe you made that statement in anyway but it seems to be the chief complaint. The rest of my post was aimed at the rest of the community in general.

I am considering the audience. We are allowed to disagree, correct? I'm just fine with waiting for the results and not demanding he release them on my timeline. Maybe he is waiting for word from Guinness. Okay, then we all wait. That's just how it goes. Anyone who is suspicious of the claim shouldn't buy them. Period. But people shouldn't go rambling on about how They need to see the results RIGHT NOW! It's stupid. It's just peppers.
This isn't gasoline or the health care law. It affects a small community within a small community and there is no obligations to buy.

I get it. Some won't buy without some paperwork to back up the claim. This is perfectly natural, and perfectly legitimate. I would also like to see the results, I think it will be very interesting. But I'll trust someone based on their word when they have a lot to lose by lying. They have more to lose with a false claim, than I have to lose by buying a slightly less than the hottest pepper in the world. That's some heavy motivation. If I'm taken, then I'll complain. Not one minute before. I paid for seeds, I got seeds. That's the most I can expect right now. As far as I am concerned he has until next spring to provide paperwork.
Even if Guinness says No, I'll look at the test results. If the 200,000 SHU average bares out at the proported 1.4 million, and that is indeed the highest average for an available pepper, then that to me is good enough. But think about this...We've been arguing over the comparison of a plant for three weeks, and it has been heated (no pun intended). I know people get serious about their hobbies, but for the love of Pete this is ridiculous.
Give them time to publish the results.
 
Like I said before it is a bit much to divide the participants in this "lively discussion" into supporters and haters. Is it possible to raise a valid question without being branded a hater? Or is this a case of with us or against us? I don't hate pepperjoe or the price of the seeds, hes just a businessman maximising his return. I have a question about the many different reports of scoville levels and am interested in the parentage. I also wouldn't be selling something and saying its hottest in the world unless I had the test report in my hand and linkable for people to read.... but its no biggy, if you're a gardener you should have patience already. The evidence has been said to be coming so I will wait it out.

I went to the sites and was about to buy the seeds, but in Australia the season has just started and I have just sowed more seeds than I have room to grow out. If there are test results released and the price drops I'll probably get some next year.

Theres really no need to mount the machine gun on the jeep and go looking for a fight.... its just a vegetable :P

or perhaps a fruit?? anyone want to debate that

And I got a bunch of very insulting PMs from Joe. If I would only publish the insulting substantives it should be sufficient to bann him live long.

So far there are no facts and everybody posting here, no matter if its positive or negative, keeps the promotion running and the cash-box of this people ringing.

If there were hard facts, why no publishing them??
They pay for a professor, who should be able to bring the data in a readable form and stay with his name and reputation of the institute for correctness of the work.
Propably the data are weak.

Namely, that I as potential customer , may be a criminal and guilty shoplifting.I'm not a hater, I don't care how hot your pepper is, I wont buy it because it doesn't have any value to me now. I think the douglah may be hotter, and that is hot enough for me. That pepper is way too ugly for me, and please hire a professional to your marketing- if your product is so amazing. Your tedious over-promotion, aggressive advertising skills aint much kop, and I'm qualified to say it. It reminds me of that guy from BP.

I was worried that might be it. i was hoping for a little more info. data backing up statements and so on. I do admit i have already ordered the seeds. Mostly cause i cant help myself. Ive seen it described more than once as a super hot with good flavor. which is a nice thing to grow. Im staying out of this debate. But people shouldnt worry so much about the price. it cant be gouged for long in a free market since. supply and demand will take care of it. this year supply is restricted so price is high. next year.... supply is no longer restricted.

I am considering the audience. We are allowed to disagree, correct? I'm just fine with waiting for the results and not demanding he release them on my timeline. This isn't gasoline or the health care law. It affects a small community within a small community and there is no obligations to buy.

I get it. Some won't buy without some paperwork to back up the claim. This is perfectly natural, and perfectly legitimate. I would also like to see the results, I think it will be very interesting. But I'll trust someone based on their word when they have a lot to lose by lying. They have more to lose with a false claim, than I have to lose by buying a slightly less than the hottest pepper in the world. That's some heavy motivation. If I'm taken, then I'll complain. Not one minute before. I paid for seeds, I got seeds. That's the most I can expect right now. As far as I am concerned he has until next spring to provide paperwork.
Even if Guinness says No, I'll look at the test results. If the 200,000 SHU average bares out at the proported 1.4 million, and that is indeed the highest average for an available pepper, then that to me is good enough. But think about this...We've been arguing over the comparison of a plant for three weeks, and it has been heated (no pun intended). I know people get serious about their hobbies, but for the love of Pete this is ridiculous.
