Nice. Those rough places sound fun to me. I've always been able to do both sides of the city, if you get my drift. I did it all the time in NYC.....some nights hanging out at a few bars in Brooklyn or Queens and other nights taking in an opera at the met.
I'd love to spend a day with you in London...if you wouldn't object, of course. And yeah, a tourguide such as your pop would be nice also.
So maybe that would be worth the trip, yes? If you only go once a month, you know?

Aren't there any farmer's markets around you? That would be the best place to start looking IMO.
I get the same way down here. Florida's nowhere near as green as New Jersey is, so everytime i go up there to visit i'm blown away by not only the size of the trees(100+ foot tall oaks and such) but the actual greeness of them too. -
