I have a general question, I tossed a bunch of Cosmos this morning because they germinated and were as tall as the cups. Can I plant them as deep as the top of the seedling, so about 1" deep?

geeme, I am in the B/CS area, but I think my question is misunderstood. If I direct sow in the garden, a seedling generally emerges and does not die in a few days. If I germinate seeds inside, and transplant them as soon as they emerge, they die.
