Happy New Year to all. May you recover the money you burned up in gunpowder last night. Time for some black eyed peas, ham, and cabbage!

We lucked out and get to host dinner at our home tomorrow. And it's not until 3 p.m. - Unfortunately, I have to bring my daughter back to her mom's house today... bummer.

I wish my parents had shoved music on me more, more than just listening... my folks always had the stereo going. Everything from 50s rock to country to classic rock (modern at the time).

With my parents, it was The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Elvis, ABBA, Boney M, and a small handful of others. They've since added people like Julio Iglesias, Willie Nelson, and a couple classic country singers.

Guitar players, I need advice. I'm making a franken-strat... redoing an old Squier Strat that was given to me years ago. It's set up for a Floyd Rose tremolo, and has slots for two single coils and a humbucker... what pickups should I put in this thing. I'm giving it a swirl paint job, and I want it to be able to turn on the afterburners and be smooth and buttery at a moment's notice? What pickups? I'm thinking Duncans for the singles and Gibson bucker

BTW... no, not doing a full on "Frankenstrat" a la EVH. Wasn't thinking about that connection (not an EVH fan... crazy, I know. Just not my style). I meant just pieces and parts put together and made new again.

Normalizing relations with Cuba.... That came out of nowhere!

Not really "nowhere"... I see the gamesmanship possibility, but I'm not really sure if POTUS sees things that way, globally. Could be trying to one up Russia, or could really just be a consequence-blind ideologue. I've been rooting for the Cuban people for a long time, but this really gives them nothing without concessions for at least free elections from the Castro regime. Side note - it still blows my mind that we have so many young brains full of mush sporting Che Tee shirt...

It's the Russians. Opened their naval port there again and stopping by with warships. Easier to spy on with an embassy close by.

Pretty sure it's political; I don't think he liked the way Florida swung in the last election.

I guess it's pretty good, Oldsalty. I haven't done much exploring on it yet, as I don't really play multi-player. I had just finished the COD: Advanced Warfare campaign before I even took BF4 out of the cellophane.... and that was just to get it all loaded up and all of the maps and updates loaded before I tried playing any. If you're used to COD, You'll do fine in BF4. Except for getting kills... that's hard, if you're not a gamer.
