    Potato Tires

Toxic? (twitch twitch)... are you telling me that it's toxic(twitch-hack-cough)? I've been doing this(hack hack) for years and I'm just fine(sneeze). See! Can't you tell(cough cough) that there's really nothing seeping out of those tires(ahem- haaaaaaaaack)???

    Potato Tires

It's true folks... it really does work! I've been growing potatoes in tires for aeons and if you're into having extra spuds laying around the pantry through fall and the holidays it sure doesn't hurt to give tire growing a shot(if you haven't tried it already) and there really isn't much of a...

Can they be used for seed? If these two varieties were kept isolate of each other I'll go $11.11.

Anyone growing Shishito Peppers that are healthy?

Shishito's are a different beast all together. They are Japanese in origin. Many are growing them in northern New Mexico and they tend to require calcium and magnesium if grown in the New Mexico soil. I've no idea what medium you have them planted in-in Los Angeles but if they're in potted...

    Orange Habanero?

Was the plant skinny and whispy at time of purchase or was it shorter and leafier? Habs fall under the latter description and tend to grow rather stout in their youth. I'd suggest waiting it out to see what the finished product is and identify from there. It is indeed a mystery!

    Red savinas

Welcome to the forum, Ice! At this point in the year we've already reached the summer solstice. It usually isn't a good idea to start germination of any seeds this late in the year but it sounds like you've got an over-wintering plan in store. Honestly though, if growing from seed there are any...

    The Trinidad Moruga Scorpion pepper

Slade, Hey there! Just as Gotrox said it's way late to be starting them that is unless you've got lights in which case anything goes. Congrats buddy... you're in the right forum! There are any number of folks within the establishment here that will gladly trade and send you any number of...

soil Empire Builder Soil Experiment Part 1

I got em at Navlet's Garden Center(Danville). They had a few unique things in there. Jimmy Nardello's, Thai uprights that were very-well covered in flowers, two serrano types, the fatalii's and red Caribbean habaneros, hot cherry peppers and a few that I've never heard of that were probably...

soil Empire Builder Soil Experiment Part 1

They're just cheap hydro-store bought black grow bags. I considered using geo-pots but of those I have left I want them for other things. The plastic grow bags are a good way to cover alot of ground for close to $$nothing$$.

soil Empire Builder Soil Experiment Part 1

Per the request of those who'd responded to my initial post on the Empire Builder soil: http://thehotpepper....e-builder-soil/ I am not going to make a glog out of it but I'm curious myself as to what the results will be. On the way back from Napa this last weekend I randomly stopped off in...

    Ronnie

Yes.... the 'other' Ronnie. I think I'd heard that Ronnie Montrose' passing was ruled a suicide and that bothered me for some reason. They were interviewing his wife and I guess he'd had self worth problems. Sounds like even though he'd get an excellent standing ovation following his more...

    Ronnie

The date of May 16th seems to be a wrecking ball for me. One of my teenage and life-long influential mentors passed away whilst fighting a cancer bout at the Mayo Clinic in 2010. I remember hearing about his diagnosis on 94 Rock in Albuquerque and that same day my phone lit-up as well with texts...

I still haven't decided which pepper I'm going to do the experiment with but if I can help it I'll try the EB up against FoxFarm OceanForest. I've got a few Thai plants that are about the same in height and stature that haven't started flowering yet. I'll figure something out.

    soil Empire Builder Soil

It's amazing what some of these Californians come up with when putting together water-only soil. I'm new to this concept myself but the term "water-only" is apparently making reference to commercial soils that do not require feeding or fertilizing throughout any one growing season. I'd beg to...
