Baccutums usually have yellow spots on the petals of the flowers.  Those look pure white.  I would say Annuum over Baccatum.

You definitely want to give them a hardening off period of gradually introducing them to the sun.  When indoors, they aren't accustomed to the intensity of the sun.  Putting them straight outside will indeed fry them.  The older ones will likely recover and be fine.  Young plants don't usually...

  This is the first year that I've started with Happy Frog that resulted in me having to supplement so early.  Last year it was about 1.5 months after potting up that I had to supplement.  As for the gravel, I've not noticed any gravel at all.
