Cut end of stems hollowing out.

Mine have the same occurance. just keep an eye on them for disease, fungus, or rot so you can stop it before it gets to far along. I sprayed them with a little hydrogen peroxide as an insurance policy so to speak.

Post Your Aji Amarillo For a Prize

Dang...I already tore my plants out a couple weeks ago...I'm sure that a chopped down and potted plant is not what your looking for :( I will say however that I seriously need to reevaluate the spacing needs for mine. They were over 5'feet tall and about 3.5 feet in diameter...and that was in a...

    Peppers in the north

I've had a similar experience. I pulled the plants I wanted to overwinter and gave a few to some friends to see if they could do the same. I've left 3 plants in the ground and they are still chugging along. Heck my rocotos that I put in the garage are still setting pods now that it's cooler...

    Rocotto update

I love the Rocoto pods flavor...really nice heat and those bad boys literally drip juices when cut open. I have 4 that I'm trying to overwinter since they seem to take a good long while to develop and ripen pods! They took longer than my Bhuts did!!!!

Standouts and disappointments from my grow this season

Glad I grew: Inca Red Drop - great taste, compact, very prolific Aji Amarillo - great taste, grew much larger than I anticipated, prolific Amarilliar - great immediate heat, 3 foot tall, very prolific Super Chili Hybrid - awesome for salsa, compact low growth, very prolific PA 353 - great for...

    Why didn't my plant grow....!!!???

I would also point out that sometimes plants seem slow to grow when they are busy establishing a good root base. I had a couple tepin plants that seemed to be stunted for a very long time...after a good long while they began to grow well. At the end of the growing season I was pulling out plants...

Hot, not supper hot, advice for 2017

My vote goes for PA353. It's a squash type pepper developed by US Vegetable laboratory. It's red, considered "hot" is resistant to root rot nematodes and is a very prolific producer. Only grew one plant this year but I'll be growing that bad boy again next year!!! They go great in salsa, good...

    vendor ChilePlants Dot Com

I have had multiple orders from them and have been pleased. Even when they accidentally sent me a plant I didn't order, after I notified them they sent out the correct plant the very next week. That has only happened once to me and as I stated previously I really enjoy their service and...

How to plan your grow list?

I like to get fresh pods during the summer months from members here to taste them and see if they are something that I would be interested in growing first. Cuts down on a lot of time wasted growing things I don't like. Once I find peppers that I like, I definitely evaluate space, although...

4 new trees in 20 gal containers

So...it's all your fault...after reading this thread I started looking around and found a Bearss lime tree and had that bad boy shipped to my house. It's 6.5 feet tall and a little lanky but it's mine ;) I will have to pull it inside for the winter and it'll go inside the grow tent until next...

    Goji berries

Just planted a Goji berry plant in a container this fall and it's a hardy lil sucker...already has berries started and a lush green. We'll see how it does in the Michigan winter. Looking forward to next year and already have a 1/2 wine barrel set aside for it. Not sure if I want to plant it in...

    Chili flavors

I really enjoy the Baccatum family the most. Annums are a very close second and here we go, getting ready to be flamed...Chinense the least. Everyone's tastebuds are different so what may appeal to us may be totally off base for you... The best advice anyone can give is to say that you should...
