Various Trichocereus cacti like yourself i also have one large San Pedro with 4 pups thats doing very well and 4 Pereskiopsis they grow like weeds but was hard to find here in Canada. I also have some Lophophora williamsii. Still waiting on seeds for the grafting onto the Pereskiopsis gonna pick...

I don't know if this would be overkill or not for most people but you could always buy a flame defender to keep the lights on when you leave the house and or sleep at night. Check them out.   http://www.hydroponics-garden.com/flame-defender.html   Cant really give advice on fluorescent lighting...

It should work out for what you wanna use this light for at least IMO. I guess i should also add that this fixture doesn't put out much heat at all and you can touch the bulbs without getting too hot. I have some cactus right at the bulbs (1-2 inches) when i have nothing else under the lights...

I own a 4 light T5 fixture but its not the same brand and have to say it works just fine for starting seeds and what not i even keep some cactus under these lights and they have been doing great. Replacement bulbs are around $10 each just so ya know it comes with 6400K like mine but you can also...

Reaper poppers should do the trick. ;)
