seeds 7 Pot Brain Strain Seeds?

Not sure why everybody wants to grow the Brain Strain 7 Pod. Can't eat the damn things they're too freaking hot. Why not save all the hassle and work involved in growing it and just start chewing on a piece of glowing red charcoal. ;)

charlesNYC, you're gonna need more than 10 posts before we start sharing brain strain seed with you, I hope you understand. My three year old mother plant is again pushing out pods so new seed should be available in about a month. Get posting.

Cappy, Do you take the mother plant indoors each winter.
Marc

Patrick nailed it. They are fun to grow and cool to look at, but basically inedible. They are pretty much only good for laughs when some hot pepper neophyte blurts out "I can handle anything!". Give him one of those and you will never see or hear from him again. I've never seen a pepper where even a small amount plays havoc with your whole digestive tract. The heat just keeps coming and coming, from one end to the other. When they're dried, it's even worse. Don't ever eat one unless you have immediate and long term access to a toilet. I used to think that some people had exaggerated the effects of this killer pod, but I sadly, and repeatedly, have found out there was no hyperbole involved. Just stick with Bhuts, all the heat mere mortals can handle and significantly better taste as well.

BTW, I have one of these friends who says he can eat any pepper out there. I am currently trying to grow some Bhuts so I can put him to the test.

So, how does the Brain Strain compare to the Jonah? Is it worse? Not that it really matters - I can't handle Jonah very well either.:mouthonfire:

And, I thought Brain Strain was just a "looks" thing. Is there more to it? Curious minds want to know.

The Barrackpore 7 Pod is probably an equally hot 7 pod strain if not a hotter one:rolleyes:

I grew 7 Pod Jonahs as well as "Brain Strain" last year and the Jonahs were no slouch either, and they were bigger. But, pound for pound, the "Brain Strain" is king IMO. Just a brutal experience. Cappy still has the best pics - check out his thread - 7 Pod skin porn

I do not exaggerate bigt. I will never eat a Brain Strain 7 Pod whole like Neil did, but I do use them in my hot sauces to kick the heat way up without using extracts. Imagine the first year when I was the only soul growing these as far as anyone here knows, many just did not believe me that they were so hot. Now that the seed has been spread around and other growers now have had the chance to try them for themselves, I've let the Brain speak for itself. Captainpepper has not tried a Brain Strain and probably not a Barrackpore or Jonah either, pure speculation. No more seed until next harvest.:)

Tried some barrackpore powder straight up with no milk and have no problems eating douglahs,Nagas and red savinas...am still looking to try some of those brain strains though:rolleyes: according to Neil those Barrackpores are the hottest 7 pods he ever tried;)

my motivation is main aesthetic. the pods look beautiful.
but the fact that it is said to be so spicy also a motivator. i'm not one to eat raw hot peppers. i don't enjoy that, but maybe with one of these i won't have to throw three habaneros at my small 2 1/2 serving pot of chilli just to get a noticeable kick out of it.

as a personal note: ever been on atkins? it kills your sweet tooth. and it gives you an amazing spicy tooth in exchange.

Brown 7 Pods "Douglah" have a better flavor and use factor than the red 7 Pods IMO, you will only need one Brain Strain 7 Pod plant while I'm growing over 70 Douglah this year.
