Some shore lunch pics from last week...

Walleye, homemade tartar sauce, fried potatoes, beans, and some diced Vidalia onion.

I always try to let the big females go, but sometimes they just don't swim away. We ended up keeping these three for that reason. They certainly won't go to waste though. Two 27 inchers, and a 28 1/2.

Walleye is the best tasting fresh water fish in the world bar none. I grew up taking 3 week vacations as a kid in Minnesota where I learned to fish as a youngster and Walleye was my favorite eating fish and pike were my favorite fish to catch. And you could catch all the crappie you wanted and they are my 2nd favorite eating fresh water fish.

must be a pretty tiny fish ... they don't have much lift potential because the batteries are so heavy ... the power/weight of the non-military drone's sucks for the most part.
guy's an idiot, though ... a bass would have pulled it straight into the water == game over, lol ...

Alright smarty pants :P  What can you tell me about bio batteries? Are they gonna be lighter? So I can catch sturgeon with one?

I am not up to speed on any of it ... but I bet we see nitro come into fashion like they use in the RC car/truck racing scene ...

Looks like a great way to solve the problem of trying to drag a lure across grass flats in the shallow areas though ...

I've snagged and lost untold number of fish that way over the course of my entire life!

BigB's been making me want to fish a bit here lately ...

Well, and all the fucters who just pulled dozens of lobster down in the keys in the past month or whatever ... it's probably that ...

I've missed this thread HOW!! Some very nice catches posted thus far. Going to say I'm a fanatic of sorts, pretty much every weekend I'm out chasing fish & while I can't catch the salt water species where I live I do feel very blessed with an outstanding array of fresh water beasties. It's go time for salmon on the Great Lakes right now & I'll be hitting the rivers soon. I'm also more of a river/stream guy than a boat dude but after owning my little "toon" lake fishing is starting to gel with me. Some pics

This little girl wanted absolutely nothing to do with coming in, the hardest fighting steelhead I've had this year.

This is from this past weekend (09/05/15), by far the biggest bass I've caught this year

This is the "toon" (the Whisker Biscuit!!!) she hasn't made to many runs this year but this was on a not so successful trip for walleye on the Detroit River, caught a metric ton of white bass though.

Idk how I missed this thread, and wish I had some pix now. Well me and my brother did really good on the walleye this year with Wolf river rigs using leeches and shiners. Not as good on the crappies as last year, but not entirely terrible, just couldnt find them like we did last year. Went out for cats a couple nights, I didnt do real hot on those, but my brother cleaned up. Work is getting crazy, but hoping I can make it out a few more times before the ice sneaks in.

I'm fishing for 7 gill shark the end of this month in the SF Bay near Alcatraz Island. I'll post pics of our day and catch. They can get in the few hundred pound range.

Awesome! Are you going on the Cal Dawn? I think they caught one close to 400lbs last year. I saw a 8' thresher swim under the boat a few weeks back off the Marin coast by Mcclures beach.

I will check my brother booked the trip.

Was out chasing Chinnies over the weekend, landed quite a few lost about the same. Caught quite a few females all but one their eggs were still tight in skein so off they go. Found one female all but spawned out she was just about dead in the shallows when I first got there (5:30am) she had a tiny amount of eggs left. Truthfully I'm not a huge fan of the salmon run, brings out the worst in people but they are hella fun to catch, both in the lake & in the river. Because of the poachers/snaggers all round ASSHATS that destroy places we can fish at it won't be long before they shut down this fishery till the spawn is over (Sept 1 to Nov 1), steps are already underway in a few places to which I say GOOD STUFF.

This lady took me on quite a run, thought she was going back to the lake...lol. Took me the better part of 10 min to revive her/stabilize her but she made a strong push up river

All round a awesome weekend but bring on the trout.

My buddy & I headed out to a couple of favorite spots in search of all things Salmonid's. We'd start by hitting the mouth, chucking spoons in hopes we would have one on the line soon

After a short 1.5 hours with no one anywhere having so much as a sniff we packed up to hit our favorite river to walk. It's truly a great place & with any luck we might hit a trout or two.

We've cruised up & down this river many MANY times &  never have had a dull day. No Salmon anywhere or trout, sans the yearling I caught however pretty much every pool we drifted into we were hitting smallies & they were crushing whatever we threw their way. Pull out the fly rods & we're in heaven. My bud sets up the pin & awesome stuff was happening, I bang out my creek trout rod & have my hands full trying to land these fish, just an incredible day.

Best thing of all is we had the entire river to ourselves, that doesn't happen very often. End of the day we crushed smallies for hours, would have liked it to be Chromers or Sammies but smallies are not a bad substitute, & the fall season is just starting :)

Really nice pics. Great fishing report Chris! I love smally fishing. I would trade 5 days largemouth fishing for one day smally fishing, everytime.
