AJs 2012 Season - A Pictorial Discussion

I am getting a one day jump on last season...today is my 2012 season start...

The Germinator has been cleaned, I am using new trays for seed starting and Hoffman's Seed Starting Mix as my grow media...

If any of you decide to use Hoffman's Seed Starting Mix, be patient, it takes as much as 24 hours pre-soak to get this light weight mix totally wet...I have said it before and I will say it again...this is the cleanest seed starting mix I have ever used....clean and light weight means better root growth IMO..

All circuits and systems are a go on the germinator...am stabilizing the temperature for the next 24 hours...as you can see, the upper box is about 93F and the lower box is 85F...I have to vent the top to let both chambers reach the same temperature...

something tells me this is going to be another hot summer....close to record heat again...so the season will go as mother wants it to...I am learning each year how to change my grow techniques and am adapting to North Texas...

hope you folks enjoy this thread...if anyone has any questions or comments, they are welcome...

Looking good AJ and congrats on the early pods.

That Yellow 7 pot BB doesn't look like it got many genes from the Billy Boy parent.

Sounds like a wonderful weekend, enjoy!.... and plants look great too!

was a good weekend and I didn't take a dang picture...was too busy playing music...

Nice! Love the Scorpion trellis. Have a great weekend!
Gary

TY...they are growing pretty dang good at this point...

Congrats on the early peppers AJ. I have a couple of those TexasTepins going and can't wait. And that Scorpion is to die for...

TY...the only tepins I am growing this year are two overwintered bushes and they are already producing...

Very impressive. As usual!

I don't know about as usual but thank you anyway...

Goosh, i love your pods and plants!
Cant wait to see more!

TY...I will probably wear you all out with my posting this year...

Great shot! I'm looking forward to snacking on some wild peppers this season.

TY...I love the little tepins...everytime I go outside to the plants, I pick a little ripe one and just pop it in my mouth, mash it once and then savor the heat...

I agree...

OK...here is a shot of some ripe scorpions I am going to save for seedstock for 2013...only the longer pointed ones...these are from the two overwintered 3rd year plants...

grinning here brother...Thanks...these are gonna make my first killer salsa this season...should have enough for about 3 gallons...pressure canned in pint jars...

Wow those look great A.J. Hope mine turn out just like that.

Thank you Mido...hope for better consistent pod shape...

Dangit...I went to hook up my fertigation system and found that my tank has weather cracked and won't hold pressure...wonder how much this is going to cost....
----------------------------
and I just found out....55.00 to my door....

should be enough for a few months...

Thank you...Semper Fi....

time for a few shots...the plants are doing well, especially my yellow scorpions...found these in the Mississippi Scorpion Project Plants last year...one plant out of 1760.....saved seeds and have about 22 of them growing now....these plants get huge in the mississippi soil, wonder how big they will get in 5 gallon containers in North Texas...

I just went and measured...the retaining wall at this end is 40 inches tall, it is 44 inches tall at the far end...tallest plant is 58"

I was really enjoying your pictorial update ... until those last couple gruesome shots!!! Those things are incredible eating machines! Glad you caught the culprit.

My plants should be going in sometime this week. Hope my Florida weave system works as good as yours!

Great pics and progress AJ! Your Galapagoense plants are doing great and are getting real bushy! Good to see they are producing pods too. I caught a horn worm on my tomato plant but none thankfully on my peppers.

this is just a cut and paste from my first post to show the last picture...said I had to many photos on one post

Bastard...

Looking awesome AJ! The thing that impresses me most about your grow is the systems you have in place from sowing the seeds to getting the seedlings going to the pots and the set up with the ropes keeping things in their place up against the wall... Looks great and it shows that you keep working on and building on your procedures - thanks for sharing.

thanks Pulpiteer...I try and add something new each year that makes it easier for me and is good for the plants....

Good to see the big jump you have on mother nature this year. She seems to be cooperating also. Is the BB yellow 7 any different from the original strain?
