I know this isn't very bad for my "northern" neighbors but let me tell you...it essentially shut DFW down....I have not left the house since Wednesday morning....make sure to check out the link...it tells about the all time record...

here are some shots around my house...

the yardstick shows almost 9 1/2 inches...there was some melting going on during the day I noticed so I don't doubt I got maybe an inch to an inch and a half more....

this is the remains of the Trinidad Scorpions from last years crop...

this is the back left corner of the yard where my compost pile is...notice my windmill is frozen...

I think my greenhouse has seen better days....

I don't think my "Key West Naga Jolokias" are going to make it thru the winter...

and I just thought this shot was great...shows my tomato cages and my bird-netted tomato area...

for a southern boy, this has been quite exciting...it may actually hang around for a few days....the forecast high today is 39 then 28 overnight and back to 48 Saturday and Sunday...

Wow that looks like home. Well sort of. I bet that is sure causing some excitement around there AJ.

yes sir, quite a bit...all the schools are closed and all the rug rats are having a blast playing in it....

forgot to answer your question yesterday about snow shovels...I have never seen one for sale here...but they do have those big shovels they use for corn and the like...they work good...me, I had to settle for a square point standar shovel and used Kosher Salt to get the wife into the garage yesterday evening...worked good but was expensive...

Wow AJ. I wish we would have gotten that here. Thanks for the pictures. I still think some of those plants may come back. you never know.

no snow plows but a lot of sanding trucks...a little salt mixed with the sand in most cases but pure sand in a lot...then there is this Magnesium Calcium Acetate they say is "self activating" (what ever that means) and is very expensive...they use that on the "High 5" in Dallas and all the major elevated interestate exchanges...30/35, 20/35

It looks beautiful but thank God I never have to go through that. I hate cold. It makes my hands hurt. I was reading the captions in your pictures and got one of the captions mixed up with the picture of the tree in your yard that has all of the snow/ice in it. I though you were referring to it as the "Key West Naga Jolokia". I was thinking that was a BIG pepper plant, or you were pulling our leg. Turns out it was just me. Well, good luck and let me know if I need to bring you a 10k generator.

AJ, glad you are ok and still have power..I was wondering. Yes it's not much snow compared to some but a bit for you..bet the kids are making snowman, some of them have never seen this much snow before I'm sure. Kids aside, it probably won't last too long. With all the areas getting hit by snow this year maybe some comunities will rethink the equipment that may be needed in the future if it keeps on. Global warming? lol

I bet you get your fill of snow where you are from. Brrrrrrrrrrr

That is incredible AJ. It almost makes me think we are neighbors. Although around here we've got snow shovels, snow blowers and plows

HE HE HE. I knew this post was coming. I think MrArboc left the window open. :D

Snow freaks us out in the South. We've had about one to two inches and ALL schools are closed today, even the University of Alabama is closed.

Snow plow??? What's that?

Our town is the one of the main plants for Toro. They had to make more snowblowers this year...it made last week's paper, special order because everyone sold out and needed more...now that was a boost in the business! Heck of a way to get it but at least they make machines to handle snow.

we are doing really fine...I went out around noon for a few hours ( to eat crawfish, which I will post a review with a pic in the restaurant/hot sauce shop section) and it wasn't so bad...really wet everywhere and lots and lots of snow all over...thanks for the well wishes...

my poor greenhouse decided it could not bear the load so it is defunct...crashed, crushed, and catastrophically Kaput....

OK...events over...my back yard is in shambles and needs about 5 hard days of work to get it ready for plantout...but that's another story for another time...

have a great evening folks...
