Annie's 2014 Glog: FINAL Grow List before new 2014 glog

Began 2013 yesterday morning. 12 hour soak seed soak in potassium nitrate and H202 (diluted) in ice trays. Kept warm on heat mats. Mix is Promix BX with a lot of perlite added. Pre-moistened, then put in 72 cell 6 pack flats and bottom watered on heat mat to fully wet mix with Actinovate, kelp, Biotamax--a sliver--then drained, aerated with fork, then back to mats to await seeds. Lost a few seeds as I'm handier with turkey baster (obviously from seeds left in bulb when clean-up) when it's used for Q or turkey, but have plenty of viable seeds. Trying to prevent damping off. Seeds from Chris, Jamie (Romy6), Ed, Judy (pepperlover.com), peppergal, peppermania, Baker Creek, Trade Winds, Tomato Grower's Supply, My Patriot Supply . . . and my own saved. Now to prevent damping off. Have ordered Pyrethrin to go with Actinovate, lots of fans, soil temps were 85 this morning when wood stove was dying, restoked, back up to 90F, soil temps (sorry, no pic), as while carrying in wood in our ice and snow/ice storm yesterday morning, I fell. Sorta fell. Falling would have hurt less: why do we try to stop the inevitable? This is my first grow of superhots, so please, any suggestions?! Lemme know, please. Right now the domes are on again, but will be slanting them off in a couple days, if not sooner, and always, flats get 20 minutes fresh air in morning. (Freezing but fresh air <grin>.)

Lights and mylar box--other side of shelving unit is large white sheet (and I know the mylar is crinkled). Also there's some diluted Clorox gunk am gonna get off, but for now, I like the idea of diluted Clorox gunk.

Thanks to so many helpful members here. I hope these seeds hook, live long, prosper, aka do not damp-off. Updates, I hope . Peace, Annie

Funny story, somebody should make a movie. :D
Glad for ya dry day. Wet doesn't seem to have slowed your peppers' procreative skills.
So, more 'dorphins with the Madballz. (mental note)
My Bonda seeds never Jacqued, so I'm Bondaless this round.
Nice herd of habs and Fatallis

Hi Annie!

Been away in Yankee land, sorry I missed your B-Day, hope it was good!

Hear ya 'bout cell phones...that's why I handed mine in...damn things! Only good for crap and ringing while taking one...did I say that?

Plants look wonderful!

I'm impressed with their growth and those fantastic pods. Here in Tejas they love the rain, seems like yours do too!

That's some story about family dynamics Annie, and one I've seen play out quite a bit over the years... I've been a Hospice aide for 20+ years. It seems like you're the best able to deal with her because your sense of humor is a built-in pressure valve. The health care "professionals" in the family mean well, but don't know how to bend, so they break. 'Nuff said...

Does your camera have a macro switch or setting? I'd be willing to bet you'll get better closeups if you can find it. Great looking pods and plants, but the details are a mite fuzzy...

Good on ya for tackling the Barrackpore... looks like you're on a roll!

You're going to have lots of ripe pods soon.

"I heard her bitch-slap the boy when he was a child. WTF? Did he forget?" - We men never learn.

"Please. We are trying to get killed, in peace; okay?" - Ok, I know I shouldn't, but I laughed at that.

"Said shoulder felt better afterward." - Isn't that a little like, "I have a head ache."  "Okay, take this hammer and hit your thumb real hard with it."

Arksaw, ripe poddage would do me worlds of good! The Nagas were ripe but young, not nearly as hot as they'll get.

Yeah, lol . . . sad thing was, so fed up with my family that I didn't laugh when I typed it. Bro asked me what I sent her; he said, "Oh. Okay. I like the peace part, sis." Poor guy! No, no: my OLDEST younger brother learned. He's a man who learns. "I can't shut her up and before I kill 'er: leave. Go fishing. Go for a drive to the coast. Get on a plane and visit my son in Naples. Italy or Florida either one work." Between Mama and me, small wonder he doesn't have traumatic brain injury. He did everything that he wasn't supposed to do, that no primate should do, until Mama had the exorcist come in when he was 16 (and we aren't even Catholic) and he changed. I came in from college one holiday and had no clue who had invaded him. Where did the jerk, who had the makings and markings of a serial killer, go?

But the two younger than him? Ya right: they like pa-ain. The "baby" is married to this woman who's really sweet. Very patient woman. They have three sons, the oldest going to college FAR away in fall. (I think she helped the boy choose the uni.) Really! She's patient. She smiles at bro with this adorably gentle smile but her eyes are twinkling. He knows the translation: "Oh, honey. I could kill you in your sleep with an injection of something." Then the dingbat, idiot is whining, "What did I do!!!??" He already got the mercy-killing smile. I'm thinking, "Just shut UP, while ya ahead!" And laughing aloud.

Yeah, Carl the testosterone-heavy version of Crimes of the Heart. Thelma and Louise, equally well.
Yep: Looks like Chantal may not evolve into much for us. On the other side of that is, maters--all but one made it--so all but one are USED to being drowned and they aren't going to continue to get that should the rains back off. Peppers just take rain better than others.
Now, YMV, but I had more "dolphins" with MBZ. Am sorry about Bondalessness . . . but if you have no freres . . . I can spare two. "Herds" without so much as a Datil flower to Onan-up. Eh, they usually late anyhow.

Ordered some Bio-Bloom and if can make it store tonight, late, going for more molasses. Brew up some flower-power. Farout.

Okay rest of pics:

Think this is Trin Scorp Moruga Yellow or Red--they're beside one another--one of two:

AnnsGlog7-11TrinScorpMorugaRed_zps52fceb06.jpg

I have them labeled in garden but . . .
And this is the other:

AnnsGlog7-11TrinScorpMorugaYellow_zps327d83e8.jpg

Ooops little too close. Oh whale.

Naga Mucha:

AnnsGlog7-11Naga_zpsc3962b5f.jpg

Nice load of Nagas to color-up. Red, not black LIKE SOME PEOPLE GOT  I really want every conceivable color/flavor of Naga next year.

7 Pod Brown x Naga (Jamie/Romy6):

AnnsGlog7-117PodBrownxNagaJamie_zpsa26fbcfb.jpg

Has good poddage all over (love the stinger on the one) but these at bottom are what I saw. (Then again, saw no cukes early this morning. Before leaving garden checked again and there was another pint or three waiting to be picked, pickled, eaten, whatever. They've loved "rain issues."

And Trini Perfume:

AnnsGlog7-11TrinPerfume_zps51e99001.jpg

Again the Bio-Bizz Bloom and molasses will help as well as will another round of fungally-based compost tea. Thanks for looking, commenting! Peace! Will try to check in more often.

Thanks, Scott! What is Yankee-land to ya? Amarillo? Just kiddin' baby-doll! Bebe. Please to forgive me  and :shame: on me. ;)  Hon, we've not had rain; we've had deluge upon deluge. But been dumping compost, bark fines, "stuff" at base of maters and think am only person in this county going to have any. How's Reaperville? I just might check in and see some day muy pronto. Peace, sweetie! ;)

Annie,
I'm really liking the way your plant have come about. All kinds of pods happening. Cool pod reviews, I'm sure that hyped a bunch of people up...most folks are still waiting for their 1st ripe super hots to ripen....me included !
Hah.... brewing up some flower power........hippy, hippy...hooray !

Been a while since I stopped by and things are looking great Annie. For all that water that started so many of our seasons off plants are looking good and podding up. Got some brew a brewing myself that I'm going to give everything a cupa this weekend. My mom has never seen AACT before and she's excited to see how well it works. Soon it's going to be time to get in the kitchen and make all that wonderful stuff we love all year. Sauce, Jams, etc...

Have a great weekend!

Pit-stop at house to close windows, turn on AC. The MDBZ and Barrackpore came from Jamie. I should've posted on Nagas pulled. Yup: they were hot and not as hot as gonna get, hot. But still . . . tasted more vegetableally than fruity . . . or maybe had a slight ripe cherry tom sans acid taste? Chocolate cherry tom? But they get fruitier tasting. Heat? Kinda crazy for as young as it was. Now, the ripe Carib Red tasted like a Carib Red and hurt my stomach a little, since I just wuffed it down . . .  and uh, well, seeds. But it tasted like it was months old. Great sweet taste and high didn't last as long but jumped on my throat and did the evil thing there, lol. And again, seeds . . . the reminder of the remainder.

Yeah, buddy! Flannel shirts, bell bottom hip-huggers, wide suede belt, Chuck T's, and of course "the Janis hair," which I didn't have to work toward. Then, saw Bowie on Midnight Special when I was 16 and went after "bassetball" practice, got a duck-tail. Didn't just "almost cut my hair" . . . Just "time of season" to fulfill the promise of Ummagumma. "Effin' A!" (smdh) Thanks, Greg!

Thanks, Bruda Bill! Cool on the ACCT! Been a while (3 weeks) since made a batch. Have to be fungal-dominated again. What kind ya whipping up?

You know the sauce be happenin'--I ground up rest of peppers Jamie sent, some of my frozen, thawed, ground, with carrots, onion, garlic--we know this--into gallon glass crock with some course sea salt. Going to health food store tomorrow for Kefir. Any other ideas you want to add to this'd be cool. 1 oz packet of Kefir be enough? Thought about some allspice berries but could just go or not go there when it's done. Any thoughts MORE than welcome. 7 Pod Yellow/Brain heavy and need something to "take back the night" from that 7 vampire throat :fireball:. PM me, if you feel like it or post wherever . . . or not. Thanks, hon! ;) (And yes: wish had roasted them first but given Mama-sitting . . . ) Also, just got on with rubber band around very thin linen towel. So far, not blowing anything up but also not doing anything but didn't expect it to until got some starter. Y'all have fantastic weekends!

Haha...hint taken on the Nagas...I grew some Black Nagas last year, and dunno if I got any more seeds or not??? I'll check for ya! Better bet would be that someone who reads this actually KNOWS they have some...

Ripening is right around the corner! My couple weeks in your neck of the woods was....WET!

Shane . . . you are so damned sick and I just so love it. Anyhows, send the seeds, whether you find/have them or not, please. I'll even send money for postage. And will post pics of plants that don't exist, in the event you don't have any seed, that you send. Pics then'll be about as visible/viewable as of the ones I do have growing.

Ya think that was a hint, huh? Re-ee-lly? What did you think of the Black Naga taste?

Am sorry about our soggy when you were here. I try to tell people this is the wettest spring/summer in history around NC. I guess we'll know in 9 months. ;)

Thanks Bodeen!

A few updates.

Sunday Morning Do It in Dirt Show! (Last night's rain on hot tin-roof did wonders for this gal! )

A few shots. I'd love to :liar: and say I caught this baseball at old Yankee Stadium. I did almost catch one in summer of '88. I think Rick Rhoden was pitching; I was . . . wasted, fouled back, and thank goodness didn't catch it, as needed hand to complete tour playing bass. "Yes Sir: we owe you 2 grand because our idiot songwriter, singer, bassist got drunk and caught a foul ball in Yankee Stadium. No Sir: nobody can control her." Our poor manager had to damage control a lot. Glad I didn't add that one.

Also, thanks for your thoughts and prayers on "Mama's Arm;" she belongs to my father today, who's taking her to some different "specialist" tomorrow.

On with it. Dirty Ball etc.:

Brainstrains with baseball:

Big Boy!

And:

AnnsGlog7-14DirtyBrainstrain2_zps0fdc2578.jpg

Now this is a non, but couldn't help myself as had to check cukes before another band of rain came in. And I did. Missed one. Could be worse or better had not checked. My better half = . But . . .

AnnsGlog7-14DirtyCucumber_zpsbd75b5b2.jpg

Friend came by, vegan-head, as heading into house with this; I'z humming a happy tune. She was, "What the HELL!" I said could probably rig up something with a sturdy kudzu vine for her. She declined. Nature!

Some red manzanos actually flowering from all this rain and cooler but humid weather:

AnnsGlog7-14floweringredpubes2_zps42d8eea8.jpg

And:

AnnsGlog7-14floweringredpubes_zps27d7cf97.jpg

One has tiny little pod on it. Wow.

Next another non, and have no clue how they taste, first season they've been around; enough sun, they'd fully turn. Super Sauce tomato and baseball:

AnnsGlog7-14SuperSaucetomato_zps2acef8c5.jpg

Paste tomatoes from Burpee: yeah, I fell for it. But they're huge! Now taste? Who knows. Why am growing some pears, Viva Italia, and San Marz Gigante 3, Bella Rosa, for tom sauces--some hybrids, some not. Enough that.

Unripe Yellow Bouquet (Kevin/Wayright). One fell from winds and rain last night, ate it green and absolutely delicious and warm, green. Man, once it ripens, can't wait: really fruity all over mouth sting and they evidently love the rain as well for putting on more pods:

AnnsGlog7-14Yellowbouquet_zps59e52487.jpg

(And if anybody can identify that chewed up weed in background that looks like some tree, but is NOT and is everywhere, and never seen it before, please do! I think it blew in on one of our 60 mph wind events with rain about a month ago. If let it get bigger, it's kind of thorny, very woody when small. Not honeysuckle or morning glory: I know those in my sleep and pull without mercy. I've pulled and pulled these too. Can't find what they are. Nobody local seems to know.)

Anyhow, the Yellow Bouquet is going to be good as powder blend component (which is what Kevin said). Don't think can seed it for powders, or not gonna; seeds not bitter like green cayenne seeds. Baccatum. It's other name is: CGN 22181

While there's already a habajolokia, this is experiment bed this year. Naga x Ramon/Walkgood's JA Reds. Trying to get a cross:

AnnsGlog7-14JAHabandNagaexperiment_zps6a30b97a.jpg

Naga in middle of several JA Reds and one more. The little Ramonita that could:

Poor plant has been through hell. Cat ate most of it, got it growing again. Then I dropped it, hard, accidentally. In little greenhouse bugs forced me to top it, and looked pitiful when finally gave it home month ago in some Epsom salts, bone meal, vermicompost in raised bed; but she's got pretty good-sized pod and looks . . . grateful? Ya'll have a great Sunday and rest of week. Please Lord: let there be sun!

Holy HELL that brain looks MEAN :hell:

But please tell me you're not a Yankmeeee fan?!?!?!

I'm also growing some of dem Yellow Bouquet's. Last year after trying some yellows, I started gathering seeds looking for the best tasting yellow peppers. Mentioned to Kevin, and brudda mon hooked it up!
I found about 5-6 around Sept of last year, and since then the list has grown to about 25 LOL. Even with crossing off the ones I collected earlier in the year.

Lookin Goooot!

You may've happened upon an good mutation in that Brain. I'd call it Einstein if the other pods are also X-Lg.
I don't that weed by name, but I think I have it, bugs always eat it first, it's not a bad problem around here. But while we're talkin' badazz weeds, pigweed(wild amaranth) -that stuff, which sorta resembles your weed, gets outta hand with a serving of thorns on the side.
Things looking' good. Peace.

Hon, that Brain even smells mean. Dang, it's green still and the entire plant'll get ya attention surrounded by "mere" Morugas. Fear'n longing!

Kyle, the first words I said, after "Mama, Daddy and Pessi" (Pepsi) were (taught to me but were) "Yogi Berra, Casey Stengel, Whitey Ford, Mickey Mantle . . ." ya get da idea. Of course am a Yankees fan!! But if any consolation to ya, modeled my 3rd base play after Brooks Robinson with Orioles. (Thought my grandfather was gonna hit me when I told him that.) Go up to Bronx and get a feel for it before ya slam it! Shii-iit, like NASCAR, they've all gone to hell; no hand-basket should be sullied by their touch, but we also let them get away with it. I love the minors, specifically Carolina Mudcats. When lived in Raleigh, didn't miss a game! They didn't win big when they "should've," in spite of Miguel Cabrera slicing wings off big skeeters hovering over Jordan Lake (50 miles west) but a fan is a fan.

I love yellows too. Kev said Yellow Bouquet went well in powder with Yellow 7's. Can see that. I can also see how that Yellow Brain could make a marriage with Yeller Bouquet. Although, might try a mix with just y7s, fatalii yellows, moruga yellows, and yellow bhuts. Kevin's powder blends are k-A!

I'll do rain dance for you, Scott (although have no clue how to now), but we're supposed to do sun this week. And SUPER HEAT like it's supposed to be in July!!

I hope so--Brain mutation--given what have put my own through, Carl. If so, saving seeds. Yawnt some "Einstein"? Seed from last year on that one. 7 Pod Yellows grown near some yellow bhuts and fatalii yellows but pods came out, some brainy, so saved them--big pods for yellow 7's too. Who knows, but saving the seed from this year. Planted near Y7s again. If and when weather gets sunny enough to turn? Just kidding I hope, as supposed to have regular July weather this week. What a concept.

And true; it's spiny pigweed/amaranth. I thank you for identification but this article says that it does what looks like been doing: spreading by rhizome, damnit. So will keep pulling. Says it likes rich soil. Or soil heavy with N. So grateful for that horse manure last fall. Riiiiiiiight. Dang. If can keep from flowering, ahead of that piece of game. What would be a cover crop to plant in fall that could out-compete a rhizomous weed?--at least around still ripening peppers and I guess solarize rest? I do NOT want to battle this weed again. You're a font of knowledge, my friend. An . . . Einstein! Ever read his response to Schrodinger vis a vis his cat? Mostly objects relations x pluralistic realities nth , whether "the brainy one" intended to go there or not. (Dear Christ, I must be gearing up to walk back into that office. :banghead: ) Thanks hon and I think you might really like love the first installment in Wilson Harris's Guyana Quartet: Palace of the Peacock. Palace is just too expensive to buy on its own. Rare. It can, if one submits to Harris's writing style, alter life of reader for the mas mucho better, like nothing I've experienced since . . . maybe the first few Castaneda/Don Juan Matus books back when I was in late teens? Shoulda PM'ed you, but . . . oh whale.

Thanks y'all! Have a great week!

Annie , just wanted to thank you for your amazing generosity. Came home to a giant box o flavor. Should be a spicy adventure for sho. When you said you were sending a few suaces I had no idea the amounts . One jar is like 2 or 3 woozies  :fireball:  :fireball: . They look super tasty and can't wait to put them in my belly.

 Thank you.

I shorly would like love some spawn of Einstein! He's a whooper!.

Cover crop in  a pepper understory. Interesting.
Rye is supposedly the best battlement on weeds, but can have a residual affect on the following crop. I would compromise and go with oats -it makes some quick greenery then winter kills(typically) giving some easy to till biomass in early spring. Or a forage radish might even be better. I'm going to give Austrian Winter Peas a whirl and maybe give some  radishes and oats a try too.
The Quartet looks intriguing and I'll be at the beach next week with time on my hands, ummmm.
Can't say I've read  Einstein channeling Schrodinger's Cat.
Don't claim to be a cat lover, but I wouldn't lock one in a box indefinitely either.
