Annie's 2014 Glog: FINAL Grow List before new 2014 glog

Began 2013 yesterday morning. 12 hour soak seed soak in potassium nitrate and H202 (diluted) in ice trays. Kept warm on heat mats. Mix is Promix BX with a lot of perlite added. Pre-moistened, then put in 72 cell 6 pack flats and bottom watered on heat mat to fully wet mix with Actinovate, kelp, Biotamax--a sliver--then drained, aerated with fork, then back to mats to await seeds. Lost a few seeds as I'm handier with turkey baster (obviously from seeds left in bulb when clean-up) when it's used for Q or turkey, but have plenty of viable seeds. Trying to prevent damping off. Seeds from Chris, Jamie (Romy6), Ed, Judy (pepperlover.com), peppergal, peppermania, Baker Creek, Trade Winds, Tomato Grower's Supply, My Patriot Supply . . . and my own saved. Now to prevent damping off. Have ordered Pyrethrin to go with Actinovate, lots of fans, soil temps were 85 this morning when wood stove was dying, restoked, back up to 90F, soil temps (sorry, no pic), as while carrying in wood in our ice and snow/ice storm yesterday morning, I fell. Sorta fell. Falling would have hurt less: why do we try to stop the inevitable? This is my first grow of superhots, so please, any suggestions?! Lemme know, please. Right now the domes are on again, but will be slanting them off in a couple days, if not sooner, and always, flats get 20 minutes fresh air in morning. (Freezing but fresh air <grin>.)

Lights and mylar box--other side of shelving unit is large white sheet (and I know the mylar is crinkled). Also there's some diluted Clorox gunk am gonna get off, but for now, I like the idea of diluted Clorox gunk.

Thanks to so many helpful members here. I hope these seeds hook, live long, prosper, aka do not damp-off. Updates, I hope . Peace, Annie

The sauce you sent is to die for.  Love it.  Hoping to have some foodie pics this weekend with it.

Love the list.  Hope the peach bhut is as tasty this year as it was last season.

If I lived closer I would take the trees out for you.  On cold weeks like this, heating with firewood makes me smile even more :)

Wow, Jeff! Am glad you like the sauce! I would've sent more, and later in year, when funds aren't so stretched. Also, thank you for the powders, which I just got and will post some pics after running errands. You make wonderful powders! I ended your fish blend on some chicken, just amazing, great citrus! And inspired my chix/fish blend.

I've received some hits off C-List to take out the trees. But not paying them aside from wood. I heat by wood in basement, but have enough to get through (and have more trees) need more garden space! I'll get cousin later in early Feb while sap is still up to get enough to split couple cords between us. Just want these gone for garden space. ("More cowbell peppers.")

The misses likes the bonnet sauce! That's saying a lot as she doesn't like the c. chinense flavor, yet anyway (follow by a evil laugh). :D Hopefully this is her gateway. & It is really delicious! Getting into the others later! Thanks again Annie!

We shall convert them all, Jason! One powder and one sauce at a time. A great nation of Chili Heads will rise from the fallen, and peace will reign upon the earth! Glad she likes it! Last year, without fermentation, I either got them too hot or too fruity and am really trying to improve. Just makes me happy that y'all are happy (and we shall convert using such gateway methods)!
Some powders Jeff/Bodeen sent and they're so so good. As noted on his glog, picking up pork shoulder from local abattoir this afternoon and definitely see HBJ in the rub! (I really need some Eastern NC pulled pork in this cold weather! And while some still do whole hog, many in ENC are going shoulder. Just so fights don't break out between others from NC on here   . And yes, the war between ENC and WNC is that vicious, smh.) Again, thank you, Jeff!

I hate reposting pics that you posted, Ramon, but your camera skillz kick azz!

Thank you for getting that on Bevo/Squealer! I consider it a warm Q sauce too. (Or that was the intention; I reckon folks can use it anyway they want but the intention was Q sauce in processing.)

Have such a blessed holiday with your family and friends, Ramon, mi hermano. And if you try to leave us, I'll have to send a hillbilly hit squad to keep you there, posting great food porn and pics of luscious MoA and others. Just kidding  ;)  but, shucks.  :mope:  Don't be gone long!

Thanks for the fantastic powders Annie!

Gonna try the Fish/Chix tonight with dinner.

Stay warm!

You're welcome, Scotty! Have fun with them and "stay warm" is a blessing today. Freezing rain but . . . with cold this early, good to kill off nasty bugs.

Found this recipe from here that you might be interested in to attract beneficials:

"Good Bug Chow
Mix all the following ingredients together in a glass or plastic container:
2/3 cup of warm water
4 tablespoons of brewer's yeast
2 teaspoons of honey
1/2 cup of sugar

To use: Take 2 tablespoons of the mix and dilute it in 1 quart of lukewarm water. Use this solution to spray on plants in the spring and early part of summer. Remember don't spray plants when temperatures are over 80F. Store the mixture in a sealed container in the refrigerator so it won't go rancid. It will keep for 7-10 days. The sugar in it is actually good for your plants."

From here. Nice site on companion planting too, I knew some but was afraid to plant borage, not anymore and Texas Tarragon of Mexican Marigold sounds like something be great in your weather (am going for that one too). I figure if I cover the dang ground in good stuff = fewer weeds and more beneficials.

Have a good evening, sweetie!! ;)

Thanks Annie,

Copy pasted and bookmarked, I did the Marigolds last year but not as many as I should have. I really cranked up my work in the garden this fall, planting rye, tilling it in, planting clover. adding the heavy soil, compost, and mulch. But not in that order LOL. Just hoping to NOT have to water EVERY day like this last season...flat tested my patience.

Stay warm hon!

Yep, marigolds are givens but so many more that do this and that. Sampleseeds.com is good place for inexpensive companion stuff. And . . .

While this has nothing to do with peppers, but it does:

HOW BOUT THEM HEELS?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Paypal Cal had his handed to him in Dean Dome, tonight, minus PJ and LMac (because the NCAA is above legal systems???). Even Jay Bilas (big time dookie announcer) and Dickie V (who hates Carolina and was against PJ before he was for him) is on the NCAA for this crap. "#FREE PJ" billboards all over I-40. smdthbh

And Mack, you can come back to Heels, hon. (Okay, I feel better  ) And to all a good night!

Aw . . . not that gigantic, Jamison  . Are you singing "On Wisconsin" or "Rocky Top," primarily? I heard you were moving or are you in between or both? Wherever, enjoy!
LOL, def not singing "On Wisconsin" right now. It's frickin cold up here, and I hate winter time now that I'm getting a little older. Headed south to TN after New Year's. This is what I'm singing, my house is only 5 minutes away from this lake here in this vid. Pickwick Dam is sounding damn good right now! Gonna have a blast jumpin off of Yellow Creek waterfall!
