Another 2010 grow log.

I have a very crude grow box made out of two saw horses, two 24" florecent and one 48" florecent. I have a blanket draped over the saw horses to hold in heat. It stays about 85*F when the lights are on. I will be adding another 48" soon.

I currently have 52 cells, 40 pepper and 12 tomato. Plus, I have a Bishops Crown and a Datil that I kept from last year.

All I have started is:

White Habs
Bishops Crown
Spicy Mustard Habs
Scotch Bonnet
Bolivian Rainbow
Long Red Cayenne
Hot Banana
Bhut Jolokia
Birds Eye
Atomic Starfish

The tomatoes I have started are:
TAPS
Orange Glow
White Bianca
Beefsteak

I will also be planting a small variety of herbs. Not sure what yet.

Just a small update. I now have about all the plants I am going to plant, in the ground. I got some mulch and got that done yesterday after spreading some gypsom and ferts.

Oh, I built a fence around the bed to keep cats and dogs out.

They are placed about 18" apart. I'm not too worried about them interweaving. I can always tie them up if I need too.

I'll tell you this tho... I can't wait till they are big enough to let fruit. I'm tired of picking buds. I stopped counting after 50 today.

Picture update

Today, I actually found time to make it out to the garden for some much needed pruning and weeding.

I was pleasantly surprised to find 9 tomatoes on one plant! Only two on another though...

I counted 152 buds and 96 flowers that I picked from peppers today. I have two plants that I feel are big enough to let fruit now and have one pod per.

Bhut I just put in the ground today. The stakes are just to help the plant stay up until the wind dies down.

Congratz on the very early pickins'. How large was that cayenne plant?

Before or after the storm that broke it? Before, it was about 15" tall, but the main stem snapped about 6" from the ground in our last storm. Now, it is about a foot high.

Most pf my plants are about 12-15" high with my Datil being nearly 24".

With the way the soil id here, my plants won't get too awful big. We have about a foot of soft sandy soil, then we hit hard pack that is nearly impossible to dig in. Not to mention the salt content. Next year, I will make my grow bed taller and till deeper.

All of my tomato plants are at least 4' tall with two of them pushing 7'.

I counted 25 small pods on my datil, almost 50 on my red hab, 13 on my orange hab, over 100 on my thai hot and then I got tired of counting. All but one of my peppers have pods. Unfortunately, I forgot what it is, but surprises can be nice.

I'm gonna go take a few photos.
