beer Being Crafty

I almost don't like to label stuff and just drink it and like it or not.

I bring it back to music.  "What post-punk bands do you like?" "Oh they are not post-punk they are horror punk because (random requirements)"... etc.

If I like it I like it, If I don't I don't. Music and beer. :D

Yeah.

It's not tedious if the reason you are discussing it is to reproduce qualities, though ...

But yeah ...

The fact is, for me, when it comes to light-colored, hoppy beers - which hops is going to matter more to me than whether or not the water is soft, there's proteins or yeast, etc ...

I like certain hops, and dislike others ...

There's a little bit of overlap in multi-hop blends, but when it comes to certain hops - they make it, or ruin it, for me ...

or marketing... as people often have their faves and want to buy other brands of the same type. Same with music. All I'm saying is I am more of a top genre not sub genre person. I like metal music. I will listen to metalcore, and black metal, death metal, whatever. At least once. But it's all metal, so I am fine with knowing I like IPA, and not a sub... for what its worth!!!!

LOL... damn, hope that made sense.

Hey man - whatever works for you ...

I know what works for me - asking what the hops are ...

If I know the hops in a light-colored beer, I can predict whether or not I'll like it with a high degree of accuracy ...

The same is not true of dark beer ...

Knowing the yeast is the key for me for dark beer, whether or not it's going to be a restrained attenuator ... and leave behind some residual sugars, which I practically demand of my dark beers ...

I'm all about the rich malts in the dark beers, gimme some Golden Promise or Maris Otter, paired up with a low-aggression yeast ... like Wy1968 or Denny's 1450 ... that leaves behind some chewy dextrins ...

It's hard for me to talk about it in other terms, when I know those are my actual levers ...

I don't even remember the hops in what I'm currently drinking.

You are a very analytical person that likes to research exactly what was done and why. It's very cool actually. I am not built like that, and I don't care what or why for this beer, just what hits my tongue. #sizzle!

:)

Maybe I'l start tracking hop likeness.

Yeah, I love me some IPA too. Always been my favorite style of beer to drink, for sure. East coast/West coast, as long as it's a good beer, I'm in!

I'm probably going to dip into that crowler Ozzy sent me, when I get home.

Word!

Stout, another top level genre I like... ;)

And others!

Oh man......wow.

This is a fantastic beer! Thanks again TGCM

Man aslin's hop flavors and mouthfeel are so on point. I can't get over how smooth their beers are.

I agree with that, except the notion that I enjoy it ...

I'm driven to find out, yes, but it's not truly a happy process ...

I'm more likely to research something I don't like, than something I do like ...

I don't like DP'ing, or having to suffer through a whole glass - let alone a bomber ...

Most of what I learn is meant to help me avoid beers I ultimately won't like ...

I feel especially bad if someone packs it, pays to ship it, let alone drove and/or stood in a long line for hours for it ... and I think it's nazty, LOL ...

Mind the Hop was my fav from what TGCM sent me
I absolutely love mind the hop, but then again, I am a fan of all things citra. What they were able to do with only citra hops in that beer is seriously epic. It's the best all citra beer I've had, for sure.

Master of oranges tasted way better a week after it was canned. I think it was a bit green initially from all of the dry hops, but after a week in can, it developed into such a damn fine brew. I wish my wife hadn't given away most of her allotment of master of oranges to her coworkers, that aren't big IPA fans. I still have three cans of it, that I eyeball longingly every time I open my fridge, lol!
