beer Being Crafty

I agree with that, except the notion that I enjoy it ...

I'm driven to find out, yes, but it's not truly a happy process ...

I'm more likely to research something I don't like, than something I do like ...

I don't like DP'ing, or having to suffer through a whole glass - let alone a bomber ...

Most of what I learn is meant to help me avoid beers I ultimately won't like ...

I feel especially bad if someone packs it, pays to ship it, let alone drove and/or stood in a long line for hours for it ... and I think it's nazty, LOL ...

Being a brewer is what helps you there, being a drinker only and not caring about brewing, you miss out on a lot of that. And to think, just a couple years ago, you stated on the forum you didn't like beer. :P It just goes to show when you want to learn something, you learn the shit out it. You go from barely drinking beer, to people asking you about brewing and beer recs. And brisket cooks, Etc. It's just how you are built.

I suppose that's also true, but I still really only drink from a small sub-selection of styles ... primarily IPA and porter/stout ...

Adding IPA's helped immensely, since there's such a vast (and year-round) selection of them ...

Things were tight when I only drank stout/porter, especially here in Florida - where apparently other people don't enjoy a stout in the Summer ...

Fuckin' people ... can't live with 'em ...

What I will say about the learning stuff, is that I'm fortunate to have a really strong math and sciences background ... so I'm not usually limited in any way when it comes to learning technical things ... I can just keep on going until I've broken it all the way down ... the question is, will I still be interested once I've figured it out ...

That's what's special about the beer and barbecue ... I'm still very interested in the process, and improving it ...

I couldn't save my own life if I had to read instructions how to do it, LOL ...

When people reference classic literature, I typically have no idea they are doing it ...

I also don't know the lyrics to anything ... my mind doesn't bother to learn the words to songs, for some reason, but I can hum the bass-line, note the key changes, and re-enact the essence of the drum track with my hands, start to finish without anything playing along ...

My language-processing system is just really truly weak-sauce ...

I truly don't know the words to anything ...
