Bodeen's 2013 Grow _-_ Love at First Sting

Not actually starting this yet. Just trying to get my thoughts together on what and how many I will be planting of everything. There is the possibility that there will be no cows here next year and the pastures will be made into corn fields. This would mean the barn lot will be free and empty. It grows some of the best grass on the farm and the barn does have a well and a pump already there. Could it be garden number 3??? Also contemplating enlarging the back garden again.

Couldn't wait any longer, had to have a fresh hot pepper omelet. Picking off the pods will help the plant too. Had a goliath jalapeño omelet and a Georgia Flame omelet.

The flame had no noticeable heat to it at all. The Goliath had some heat. I am sure being immature has a lot to do with that. Hope a ripe flame has more flavor and some more heat.

Still was nice eating some fresh pods.

Your Chilhuacle looks like it's growing true... The pods are like baby Bell peppers in shape, with mild heat, and they come in red, yellow and chocolate. I've got Chilhuacle Negro growing in my pepper patch this year.

Yes, mine is a negro as well.

Here are the omelets.

I just checked my seed swap records, and the Chilhuacle I sent you, Jeff, was a Negro.  The pod shape is the same as the Rojo's I've grown in the past.  The Chilhuacle Amarillo has a different shape though.  Here is a pic of mine from last year.

Looks more like a typical NuMex type chile.  Very tasty!

I'm growing the Negro for the first time this year too, so we can all compare them later in the season.

Jeff, they may be "awkward teenagers," but now that they are in-ground I'm thinking they are going to take off!  And nice job on the catch!  Not going to get a chance to do any fishing this year, but I'm hoping next year will be different.  Really jonesing to battle another tuna again.

I can't imagine battling a tuna like they do on wicked tuna. I can't believe how many hook pulls they have. Probably comes from trying to get them to the boat too soon and not letting the fish wear itself out enough.

Fishing some salt is something I have on my list to do!!!!

Found this in the garden today. Any ideas what it is? Didn't see any head so I initially was thinking cocoon of some sorts, but it tried to burrow away so I am now thinking some kind of worm? Never seen anything like it before and I have played in the dirt a long time.

Looks like a maggot.

Salmon patties spiked with some Cayenne Pepper Powder and topped with sauteed spinach, Red Russian Kale, and garlic chives. First time growing and tasting kale. I like it.

Yummmm and Kale is good if it is cooked the right way.  I should grow some next year come to think of it.  Cant help you with that nasty looking worm though.  looks like a larvae of some sort.

Need some warmer weather to get here!!! Got some yellowing leaves and drop going on. Hope this isn't a year you have to fight all season long!
