Bodeen's 2013 Grow _-_ Love at First Sting

Not actually starting this yet. Just trying to get my thoughts together on what and how many I will be planting of everything. There is the possibility that there will be no cows here next year and the pastures will be made into corn fields. This would mean the barn lot will be free and empty. It grows some of the best grass on the farm and the barn does have a well and a pump already there. Could it be garden number 3??? Also contemplating enlarging the back garden again.

Hit 80 the last couple days, but it cools off a lot in the evenings. I want to look at the garden, but thinking I should give it some time to freshen up lol.
Newest addition to the garden. If this works out, I will have a row of these next season. Only 4 plants this year. Traded some hot pepper mix (for pest control) to the local greenhouse for these.

And if I do, I will make a lot more of this.

Today was a good day too though :)

Anyone else not able to use the little picture link icon on the posts? I have been having to manually type in the linkage.

Outside of watering the plants when I first transplanted them, today is the first time I had to fire up the irrigation.  Looking at going to a drip, but I hear it is quite costly.

Pretty warm today, hope summer is hear to stay.

Teriyaki Chicken with Southern Redneck Twist

Steamed  some garlic chives and kale for the base.  Then a layer of rice.  Follow that up with some grilled Teriyaki chicken.  Top it off with some homemade cajun salsa that is heated with some oregano and bajio peppers.

I might be wishing I planted some bajio this year.  It does something wonderful to tomato dishes.

Bullets again ...
  • Wok stir fry & fish look wonderful!
  • Do what Scott said (Devv), that said I either type all mine or use my servers auto links
  • Teriyaki chicken looks great!
  • Hope you dodge dat nasty weather, raining here … have a great day!

Never heard of a Choc Cayenne, Meatfreak just posted as I was typoing....was gonna ask the same question. I know choc habs have a fruity taste as compared to standard.

Very nice, Bodeen. Does it have a fruity aroma/flavor?

I had never heard of them before either.  The odd thing is they came from regular cayenne seed that I had saved.

Not sure on the flavor.  It is a darker flavor is all I can say at the moment.  Perhaps later in the year the pods will have a more robust flavor.

Just had some horizontal rain, hail, and twisting wind.  I don't think there was enough hail to hurt, but gotta check on wind damage to the plants yet.  The rain water will do them good though.

Glad to hear ya dodged a bullet BD! Walleye and foodie pics are excellent as usual. Do Walleye make good fish tacos? I wonder if that Cayenne crossed with your Pasilla Bajio's last year for it to be darker now... Keep up the good work!

Been a while since I posted.  Plants are starting to take shape.  Got some weeds and grass I have to get after, but I need them to get a little bigger so my fat fingers can get all the roots up.

Anyone else grow chenzo?  Thought they were short last season cause I had them in pots.  This year's is short too.
