Cappy's 2015 Chocolate BS

It has been several year since I have started a grow log like a newb but I enjoy this time of year starting plants.  My name is Cappy and I first discovered the Seven Pod in a seed trade from Sara R. in Trinidad in 2008.  That year I had a grow log and documented my grow of an extra brainy seven pod and the Brain Strain 7 Pod was born.  Since that time I have shared seeds with anybody and everybody who asked for little more than the cost of shipping.  I did not try to profit or chase the world hottest title, that goes to CARDI and the creator of the seven pod.  I am just a grower of limited means with a closet with a grow light and a backyard in a residential neighborhood.  What I am is proud of my contribution to the pepper community and the opportunity to shared this pepper with the rest of the world.
 
Last year I received some seeds from a very generous Trinidadian friend here in the states by the name of Judy.  I have dreams on making a chocolate version of my yearly hot sauce BrAiN sTrAiN.  There have been both red and yellow versions in the past so 2015 will be the year of the chocolate BS.  First round of seeds were sown last weekend January 4 and today I have my first seedling so here we go!

It looks like my plants will be getting more attention the next couple weeks as my arm is in a sling.  Went fishing today and went 1 for 2 on the Blue marlin and got a fish gaff stuck in my arm about an inch deep..  Lucky to have a doctor on the boat today and got a compression bandage on it for the first 30 minutes until the bleeding stopped.  Was really not much help the rest of the day but we won the fishing tournament with the first billfish release so all was not bad.  Got off the boat and went straight to see the doctor for a tetanus shot and an x-ray to make sure the gaff didn't hit any bones which will cause infection.  On antibiotics and pain meds and I am sure to be sore tomorrow but will be fine just no fishing for a few weeks..  It was a Mahi-mahi we were trying to get in the fish box still on the gaff that got me.

it was a double hookup Blue Marlin in the morning and broke one off.  I was fishing on a friends boat Day Maker and he would be a fool not to take his 59' B&B boat power by twin 800 hp. C15 Cats up to Big Rock he has released 7 Blues in his last 4 trips which is red hot for SC.  Smoked one last week that was 500 lbs. and came up dead after a 6 hour fight, had to pull her off the bottom winching her up.  He has won three fishing tournament in the last two weekends.  The accident happened putting a Mahi-mahi in the transom fish box and he tried to jump out so I threw my arms over the fish box to keep him in and got stuck.

Thanks Chris I have been bit by a Wahoo, hooked thru the arm and now gaffed to add to my numerous fishing tattoos.  I usually wouldn't go to any doctors care but glad I did for this one.                   
 
Good thing a doc was on board. Hope your injury heals up quick.
 
Love Mahi Mahi. Probably my favorite. I love to fish but man I just can't do boats. I'm fine until the boat stops then I'm done. I've not thrown up on a boat since I was a kid but I feel close to death. I can handle the bay around here if it's mostly calm but if we go out into the ocean it's over. Have tried all the meds, pressure point bands, patches, ginger but nothing seems to work. Envious of you folks that don't get seasick.

Sounds gruesome :shocked:, hope you heal up alright.  Plants looking good of course...
 
Yeah I didn't figure it was on one of the blues but just checking. It's a constant fear for me on the tug with having shall I say inexperienced people using the gaff and removing hooks from wahoo that is still green. Knock on wood we haven't had any issues on my boat while I have had my share of injuries when running charters year ago. Not trying jack thread but here's a couple of the wahoo we caught this last hitch, other mate said they lost a 100# just put of gaff range when they gave him slack, only using hand lines.

Hope your buddy gets in the money this weekend. Friend is working on a 77' Jarrett Bay, not sure of the name though.

I am feeling much better now after stopping the antibiotics, but the wound healed nicely.  I woke up the am and cooked up an omelette with a chocolate BS for breakfast, could not get over how the nutty taste of the CBS keep reminding me all day with several instances of tasting and smelling the pepper hours after eating it.  Having grown many different variant of the Douglah 7 Pod pepper before, this pepper is similar in taste and heat but more rigid hardened pods.  The CBS has nice blocky thick wall pods with lots of placenta holding caverns of dripping capsaicin inside.  My new favorite pepper so glad I'm growing a bunch this year, going to make a outstanding sauce.  Big shout out to Pepperlover for her fine work breeding awesome capsicum  strains. 
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 
 
Great looking plants and pods.  My container plants never get that thick.  I must not feed them right.  Will you be selling some of that sauce this year. Would love to give it a try.
 
Wow cappy those plants look so uniform and healthy. The pods themselves do look very similar to the douglahs ...great stuff! What is your feeding regime for the plants?

Thanks, I will try to get some seeds soon to you soon knowing you season is getting ready to start.  This is my recycled soil with compost and Espoma garden tone added nothing else beside the bone meal application three weeks after plant out.  Pepper don't need a lot of nutrients they just need the right nutrients at the right time.
