Capsidadburn 2014

Here we go again.  Seems like it was only yesterday.  I've recieved a lot of pods and seeds from great folks here.  THP and those folks are awesome!   I'll be growing most all of them as well as an order I just placed yesterday with Semillas.

I will seriously have to alter my logistics and layout to grow everything and keep it as asthetic but affordable as possible.  Big problems;  I need to trim my front yard trees to get more morning and mid day sun in the back.  I really need to haul in new soil.  Hello wheelbarrow and backpain.  My city is currently in a stage 2 drought restrictions (once a week watering).  I usually water with drip irrigation everyother day until summer forces me to each day.  Barrel collection (which I've been tinkering with for a while) will have to happen.

Here is my list in no particular order.  Seeds and or Fresh pods from; Pepperlover/ Judy, GAGrowhead/Jason, Windchicken/Gary, Sawyer/John, Spicegeist/Charles  Meatfreak/ Stefan, PIC 1/ Greg  Thanks to all!

10 days for a Chinense, not bad I guess :) Does it show any dark traits already? Should be having a dark stem and leaves like the PDN. Thanks for posting the picture!

That's okay, Mike. No rush :) Just read the Jals all sprouted, very happy to hear germ rate is good of course ;)
Yes the Jalapenos went early Stefan! Pic below;  The Pimenta Lisa has the purplish stems but green cotyledons.  I grew PDN a couple years back but I can't find any freshly germinated pics.

Pimenta Lisa F2 from Stefan/ meatfreak   Tasty-Peppers

I've got some Fava beans up in my garlic bed.  I'm going to ferment the beans with peppers and eventually cook into paste, preserve in jars, and serve with rice and mushrooms!  Meat optional.  Broadbean Windsor from Baker Creek
My first time with growing garlic.  Got Elephant and basic grocery store variety going now.

See you fine folks tommorrow!

Mike I agree with Jamie, your plants do look perfect. Nice photo of the cats...like a couple of bookends
Thank you Greg!  I'll probably have a few pics of them this season!  My plants owe their look to teachings of AJ.  Botanicare ProGro and Liquid Kharma.

Thanks Scott!  I have some less than perfect as well!  Not looking forward to the cold!  I do more and more of the "date" shopping these day's!

Great pictures, Mike, your gonna have enough Jalapeno's this season  or are you gonna give away some plants ;) I went through my pictures to see if I happen to have a picture of it when it just germinated or was small. The cotyledons were also green, after the first set of true leaves they started to show it's real color. The leaves don't get fully dark like the PDN, more 50/50.

Stefan, I know just what to do with the Jalapenos!  I may give away a few though.  The Pimenta Lisa leaves have turned now.  Pic next time.

Starts are looking fantastic Mike. Love the square pots. Wonder if you can fit more of those in a space than you can solo cups.
I suppose if your growing a lot or you have space limits they might be more beneficial.  Thanks Adam!
Some more seed starts from Charles and Greg.

Brown Rocoto close up. Semillas

Pretty warm today around 73 degrees I think.  Cold again tomorrow.

Texas Pequin from Windchicken

Bubblegum 7 Pot

Tobago Yellow Scotch Bonnet

Have a great evening and week!

Looking good Mike, always enjoy catching up. Good to see someone having nice weather. The North Atlantic is having some very cold weather,by far the coldest winter I can remember.

The brown rocoto isn't very flavorful to me,everyone is different though. A beautiful plant like most pubescens.

Man, that texas weather! Love the pepper meditation area!
Thanks Adam! Yes the weather is a little crazy. Back down in the mid 20's today and tomorrow.

Everything looks like it is going well over there. Hope you are able to keep everyone happy with the impending doom of cold front that is making its way down to the coast of the gulf
Thanks Caps! We are buttoned up here.

Thanks for that scoop of info John! I got another pube going that is a deep red color. Hopefully I'll manage a few pods for taste.

Alright, Naga Suomi!
I also have the Lota Bih and the Yellow Bhuts up charles!

Thanks everyone and have a safe week!

Oh great.  The Lota Bih is really different, it'll look just like a C. chinense until it starts flowering, the flowers are very much what you'd expect from a C. frutescens.

The Yellow Bhut can be very long season, so I hope it works out for you.  If it does, the fruit should be excellent...
Thanks Charles, I look forward to it!  I got a several of the Yellow bhuts, maybe 5 and I will have them marked SG.  They looked pretty cool so I hope they make.

Great looking plants, Mike. Wish I could have these temperatures you have at the moment :)
Thanks Stefan.  Back down to freezing tonight and a couple days in the 20's, then warm to 60's again Thursday.

Proper introductions.  THP meet "Mini"   short for Mini Mama cause she was to damn young to have kittens on our back porch.  She has taught her baby well and been an excellant mom.  She follows me everywhere in the backyard.  Begs me to come out when I'm inside.

This is "Tiger" my daughters pet.  I once saw her launch a squirrel with her hind legs off a roof.  They both catch the lizards and birds.  Sometimes I can rescue the lizards.

Some of you know that I have posted a lot of nature pics in seasons past.  Mostly Dragonflys but some other insects or animals too.  I'm not going to post to much of that this season unless its something new or I can get them to do circus tricks.  Usually the same 7 or 8 species of dragonflys whose habit brings them to perch in my garden.  I see other species that have never dropped in for a visit.  I'll put out the welcome mat.

So I will post a link to a slideshow of stuff from the last 3 or 4 seasons and may occaisionally edit.  Approximately 50 pics.  Hope you enjoy!

It's almost difficult to tell where the cat ends and the rock begins in that first picture... camo cats.

Did I see a mantis eating a ladybug in the slide show?  I guess that's what you call a friendly fire casualty.
