Carolina Reaper (HP22B) Community Grow

A few members including myself are growing seeds for this variety ASAP. I and a few others here on THP thought it would be fun to have a "community glog" strictly for this variety, a fun thread about the HP22B and growing this pepper for the first time.

I think we should start a community glog like this anytime there is a new pepper with alot of attention and alot of people growing it, possible world record holder or not. It would be fun, and this should be fun! That's why we all love this hobby is it not?

Therefore, this will be a drama-free, controversy-free, fun glog for all of us growers and others to enjoy. If you grow, please chime in. If you're growing this variety, please post pictures and chime in about your observations.

Again.. This thread is ment to be fun and informative, but mostly fun :)
Please. Pretty please with sugar on top.. lol. Keep it drama-free.
I, and many others would really appreciate this thread to stay that way.

Now lets get to growing!

I went with the paper towel method for this guy just like I have with all my mid-season starts. It is far from my favorite way to germinate seeds but I'm in no hurry this time of year which is why I went this route. I've had the seeds in the paper towel for about a week now on top of my HOT5 lighting closet. The seeds should be showing root tips soon, then they will be visiting some real soil :D

How's it going for everyone else?

Grower from FL shared this with me. 4 diff plants. Seeds from PJ and Ed.

Btw he only growing bells. Brains. And fatalii.

Too me they just look like inmature pods. I have a Barrakpore and several Brainstrains that put out pods just like that when conditions are not perfect. If he is growing in Florida outiside that may be the issue. Wait a few months and hopefully the pods will get more gnarly :P

Here is my lone reaper finally flowering and flourishing in the heat and humidity

Them Reapers are coming thick and fast... great looking plants. Sicman, thats a Reaper alright... its got them crazy nodes with loads of flowers sprouting from them. When I saw those on mine I thought wicked :D

can someone send me a pod? when ever you can? i want to really try one of these :onfire: and i still have awhile before ill get a chance :mope:

i will send you something back

shouldve posted a video of you sampling it
Thanks JHP!

Today I harvested my first pod.

It yielded 5 seeds.
This pod was cut up and added to a molé dish for tomorrow. Slow cookin.
This pepper is HOT! Strong smell.
Sampling a small piece lit me up. Face numbing.
Definitely one of my newest favorite superhots.
This is going to make some insane powder..

This chilli is insanely hot and tasty at the same time... who could ask for more lol taste test! taste test! taste test! taste test! we want videos!!!! lol

Man! if mine look like that i'll be dancing in the street! i pulled my seeds out of reaper pods sent by Ed Currie so i'm not to worried. Amazing pods though Ronin!!!!

Welp sign me up! Officially in business today. I just received these in the mail. All you guys make me so jealous with those awesome looking pods. Looks like there's about 15 in each pack but I'm going to have to wait to germinate until it's warm enough to put my other plants outside. I'm also trying to decide how to do it. Dwc or soil.. Going to be an isolated indoor thing either way.
