D3monic's 2015 Glog. Lots of Pods.

I had a great 2014 growing year and can't wait to get started on 2015. Had some issues with overwinters and aphids but I ditched them and nuked the basement. Here is last years Glog link

I just went through and cataloged my current seed list. Built up a bit of a collection over the course of the winter.

Edited seed list to just a drop box file on 1/31/15 CLICK HERE FOR SEED LIST If you have anything on my wanted list feel free to give me a shout.

I will keep this first page updated as I add things to the grow. Many still to get germinated.

Seeds Wanted:

Lemon Habanero
Murupi amarela
Carbanero

If your ground is like mine you'll be better off with an egg beater as opposed to a tiller lol. All our snow is almost melted and now it's raining. It's actually ok though because my son has a big swim meet this whole weekend so I wouldn't be able to do much anyway.

Lol that's about the truth! So damn soupy out there, I got an entire winters worth of dog crap defrosting back there. Stinking up the whole yard and they are just little yappers. Going to try and pick it up today but I know it's all soft and going to be rather gross.

I put the babies out since it's in the 50s and hazy enough they won't get direct sun. Now that they are out of the basement I can see how bad the discoloration is. What do you guys think is causing it? I'm thinking maybe a PH issue since I was using Hydro nutes and tap water in promix that everything was too acidic. I cant' seem to find my Kelway soil probe anywhere to check. I did pick up a bag of lime and going to start adding it to my watering mix.

You can see how bad it really is in this pic, they seem to of gone downhill fast. Lots of leaves dropped off easily. These pics are after I removed dead loose leaves. A few look un affected while others look to be suffering.

Yeah that's weird that the veins in the leaves are yellow, which would lead me away from a possible nutrient deficiency. I'm curious as to what others will think. I have fairly hard water, so I ususally don't have to worry about acidity.

I doubt it's over watering because I wait until they are bone dry and stick a finger in to second knuckle to ckeck before I do. Nute lock from acidic ph is my best guess as they almost look to be showing more than one difficency
holy crap yea, it's def a PH issue......

Looks to me like the Fidalgo Roxa is showing the least stress. I find that very interesting.

Yea neither of them show any stress compared to the others. I got bad leaf drop on lots of the others  but fidalga had perfect looking foliage. One tray is worse off than the other as it's the oldest. Since i'm using hydro nutes I'll just make it a point to add a lil lime to the water to buffer the ph back up. It could also be that the because they are under such heavy reds on the LEDs during veg it's causing  issues as well. I reduced the LEDs to being on only 6 hours a day and the T5s 24 hopefully between those it corrects itself.

I tried some of the pro mix this year also.  Not sure I like it.  Mine are similar to yours.  My plants looked much better last year in the very unpopular miracle grow.  Going to try a few other soils as have about 200 to repot in the next week or so.  Got some Majestic Earth  pottiing mix I used last year outside left that did very well I might try.  Already has nutrients in it and I think is ph balanced as it has some limestone in it.

Promix is supposed to be PH balanced but it's reading really low. Doesn't help that I been using hydro nutes which are a ph of 5.5. Probably been slowly dropping since I planted them. I'll check them tomorrow and see how the ph looks and add a tsp of lime every time I water. The stuff seemed to dissolve in water fairly decent.

Did you ever get any yellow 7 pots to pop for you?

Just the brainstrains , not a single normal one popped. Oh well the BS will suffice. I did have a bunch of Basil, green onions and tomatillos pop though.

Another beautiful day in Illinois.

Been cleaning up all the old dead vegatation and started cleaning up the garden. So many tomatillo husks I just know they going to be popping up EVERYWHERE
Raked the raised beds, tied up the drip lines and mixed in a some fish emulsion. I was going to till the beds but some of them are still frozen a few inches down.
Already spotting some onions and scallions popping up that had left in the ground last year.  Also made some rabbit fencing improvements around the garden.
