Deep freeze has hit

It is 11F in west Fort Worth right now...wind blowing about 30 out of the north....umhuh...cold for Fort Worth...will be an inside cooking day it looks like

We are suppose to get above freezing Thursday or Friday, depending on which TV station one watches. Also, most stations had been predicting lows from 2-4 degrees tonight, now they are 8-10.

Is that a record AJ? When I lived outside of San Antonio, it never got that cold. Brrrrrr.

close but no cigar PF...you got to remember San Antonio is about 4-5 hours south of me...

IN typical fashion- for St. Louis- our temps jumped up into the twenties today. What a difference perspective makes. When it first dipped down into the twenties in early December, I thought I could not be colder. Today this felt warm. Weds we'll have a "heat wave" of 42 and all of our snow will melt. People will wash their cars and act like winter is over. And then, of course, we'll get hit again!

I agree Celeste, heat wave here 25 today!!!!! That's ok we had enough below zero days to have earned this one. It's amazing how warm it feels now, shoot the furnace can handle this.

I'm not going to get the shorts out yet, but I may take off my insulated underwear! 40 degrees? That's sweater weather. Then again, one gets use to the weather. 85 in June seems a lot hotter than 95 in August!

A large number of areas in OZ are at a "catastrophic" fire danger level. We are in a major wide spread heat wave.....

I wish for your temps in the US (if only for a few minutes) just to get some relief from this bloody heat!!!!!

It interesting that as you guys are going through some of the coldest weather in a long time, we are going through some of the hotest weather in a long time.....

that was NOT some of the coldest temps we went through!! just cooler than average temps we'd get for that week of year.
if you want to talk about really COLD then the temps (w/o windchill) would have to be -30F

like I said..living in cold location has its advantages....never ever heard this ""catastrophic" fire danger level" at worst & rare would be "high"
people arnt dieing from heat.....& water shortage ? whats that ? oh the thing that gives life...naww got plenty of that!

Sort of the same here. The coldest I recorded was 3.5F, not exactly bone-chilling. The worst (or best) that can be said is that this was the longest streak of hours in a row below freezing in three years.

Today, the temps moderated and the sun was rather bright. It only got up to 38 but I forgot to check my GH temps and at 2 pm it was 105 and rising! That was at a little lower than hip level - at chest levels, it was at least five degrees warmer.

We're supposed to get above freezing tomorrow which is just going to create a total mucky mess but at least it should help melt my igloo/greenhouse. Also not good for Ottawa's winterlude, especially the Rideau canal skateway:(

The snow we had was fun at times though, I got stuck at work overnight last week then came home and built a snowman. Unfortunately my son took his hat off and gave him a mohican made out of snow but when you saw it out of the window it looked like it had a big d*ck stuck on top of its head, poor thing.

Doesn't everything look dirty when the snow starts to melt? I always leave my snowmen to melt until all you can see is their hat and scarf on the ground, so sad... lol. I know we didn't have much snow, we had more before xmas, but c'mon, this is England, we don't function with snow.
