I'll be the last person to opine I like this weather, but I do appreciate is. As a former farmer (or the son of a farmer) hard winter freezes with a good snowfall that can melt into the ground does wonders for the soil. It also drives insects much deeper, so they do not emerge as early as they will in a very mild winter. We had our very best crops after the winters of '75-'76 and '76-'77, when we blessed/cursed with extremely cold weather and way above average snowfalls.
As far as the winter in Cincinnati, it has been, actually, quite mild. The coldest temp I have recorded is 4, I think the official low is a few degrees higher. Usually, we experience a night or two of sub-zero temps. Snowfall - maybe eight inches, max, total. In the past several years, I reckon we have had at least one snowfall in six of the eight that totals more than six inches.
This winter has, so far, been like the summer, abnormal. We usually have a dozen or more days, sometime two dozen, above 90 degrees. This year, we had two, and they were at the beginning of summer. We still have about two weeks before the average daily high and low temps start rising, but a long range forecast for the rest of the month says it will be very mild.
