Man, even your heavy one is lighter than the SAW I carried the last time I was over there but then I really loved that SAW. Glad to see your on the ground and getting into the day to day over there. How's the chow hall, are you getting good fresh food or those dang T-Rats they fed the rest of us? Now you just need to get into the gym and start pumping some iron and when you get back you can walk right up to Retta and she wont know it's you :)

Hell....they even have BEER in the DFAC.....even if it is non-alcoholic. This Sunday we're having steak and lobster.

Yeah....the M249 is pretty bad-ass.......but I'm not that great with it. Not much practice with it, I suppose. It's hot as balls here....but it's also really really arid.

I loved the M249. I had to carry one as an E6 when I was a Launcher Chef because they wanted us to have that firepower out the hatch without having to add a weapons ring to the vehicle. Also the SAW could be pulled inside during a fire mission and there was just something nice about having a 100 round mag :)
 
Ok, so I see the McCormick grinders there but where's the bottle of Bio Hazard? Don't tell me you didn't take any!
 
Lookin good man!  I know EXACTLY what your goin through...my room even looked JUST LIKE THAT! LOL.  Enjoy the heat coming your way, I can tell you that you will have a great time trying to find inventive ways to use it all!

It's worn as is....which makes it WAY cooler. Even still, you're wearing a long sleeve shirt in 115 degree weather. I think we should have camouflage tank tops and cargo shorts.
 
I didn't take any Bio-Hazard because I was afraid that TSA would confiscate it. They're really weird (and unpredictable) when it comes to stuff like that. I figured I'd just get Retta to send it to me. Can you imagine the bomb dogs getting a whiff of THAT!? :fireball:

It was the first day of Ramazan.....and I'm guessing that's the Taliban word for attack. I spent 4 hours in a bomb shelter..... :shocked: Then the damn attack sirens went off AGAIN while I was in the shower.
 
There's a good bit more detail to the story. Perhaps it'll be on the news.
 
Got more pics to share, but I'm tired. I'll post them tomorrow!
