off-topic Good Mornin' Thread - For those that get up really early and post

Good morning. It's 37F on its way to 48F. Milder, cloudy and breezy. Not much on today's agenda. I've still got some paperwork that needs organized and after that I'll do some casual winter futzing or get some reading in. I noticed I'm short one brassica seed variety but tracking shows it has shipped so I should be ready to start them in a couple of weeks. Looks like I've got everything else. I need to decide which tomato and chinense varieties to grow but that can wait for a month. Peppers and sausages this evening. Be safe and be good.

Good morning. It's raining and 36F, on its way to 57F. Rain ending this morning, sunshine by afternoon. That's a good thing, since we've already gotten 1.5". Standing water everywhere. Doing some paperwork this morning, then taking brother to Dr. appointment this afternoon. That's about it for the day. Hope everybody has a terrific Thursday. Be safe out there and keep thinking of Spring.

Good morning. 32-49F, getting cooler. Baby layette assembly this morning, more seeds to peruse, then a quick lunch. So Harry and DR, what are you planning for this year’s gardens? Anything different? My plans will be close to last years except for using a simple nylon bag over my beans to deter Japanese beetles. It may be a bust, but those critters are ravenous.
Have a wonderful day. Take it slow and enjoy the little happenings, like when the flowers start to wake up from winter.

Not much new this year. Here's what we're planning on growing: Beans (Bush), Beets, Broccoli, Broccoli Raab (this is new for us), Brussel Sprouts, Cabbage, Carrots, Cauliflower, Lettuce (Leaf), Lettuce (Romaine), Garlic, Onion (sets), Peas (English), Peppers (Chinense, Annuums), Potatoes (Gold and Red), Radishes, Tomatoes (cherry and beefsteaks, no paste tomatoes this year .... the boss is not planning on canning tomato product(s)) and Leeks (this is new for us). For many of these we will have a Spring and a Summer/Fall planting.
We have decided not to grow: Sweet Corn, Eggplant, Cucumbers (not processing/canning pickles this year), Summer Squash, Melons, Tomatillos and Winter Squash. We've determined that these are not economical or the volume is just too great for us to grow and we can find these locally, in the smaller quantity that we actually consume, without the hassle of growing them ourselves. These also attract many pests to our garden.
We'll have herbs (Basil, Thyme, Sage and Cilantro) in the stock tanks and planters. We've had volunteer Dill and Chives for many years.
We always have strawberries, blackberries, apples and pecans.
This year we are also planning to grow various flowers (including sunflowers) in any "unclaimed" beds in the main garden. We haven't done this for several years.
The Japanese beetles are attracted to our knock-out rose bushes (we got at least 2 dozen of them around the house and shop). These keep the beetles occupied and out of the garden. I set bag traps for them (away from the garden) and typically do not spray unless it's a massive infestation. The beetle invasion is relatively new for us. We never had them until 10 years ago.
I can't think of anything new we'll be doing in "care" or "process".
Our main garden insect pests are: Colorado potato beetles (I hand pick these off), Cabbage worms, Grasshoppers and Tomato Horn Worms (I hand pick these off).
Other nuisance pests are: Whitetail Deer (major problem), Cottontail Rabbits, Squirrels, Raccoons and Possums.

Good morning. 24-64F and sunny. Harry, thanks for your garden report that looks like you and the Mrs. will be quite busy this summer and Fall. Whew. You are lucky to have such acreage to enjoy what you love.
Busy weekend for us, lots of errands, groceries for Souper Bowl get together. Costco, coffee group, and whatever. Funeral tomorrow.
Have a wonderful Friday. Remember those less fortunate

Good morning. It's sunny, breezy and 45F, on its way to 50F. Not a bad day, I guess. Might try to wade down to the shed and dig out the seed starting stuff before the next round of ice and snow, which they're calling for tomorrow, ha. Spring WILL get here...eventually, lol. Hope everybody has a freaky good Friday. Be safe out there and enjoy your day.

Good morning. It's snowing/sleeting and 30F, on its way to 36F. Calling for an inch of accumulation this morning, then more sleet/freezing rain this afternoon. Sounds like a slippery kind of day, and a good one to stay inside. Ran errands yesterday, so no need to go out today. Probably just do some fairly serious futzing. Hope everybody has a super Saturday. Be safe out there and hold on to your ice-skates.

Good morning. 26-43F, cold w/an inch of snow. What a shopping trip we had yesterday - it was like the no TP of 2020 only with eggs. Kroger is on strike for 2 weeks, no eggs at Safeway or Costco (!), at Sam’s Club you had to buy a box of 5 dozen or none. So we have enough eggs for a few weeks. Time to bake!
Today is making soup day, then a funeral, back home to play with melting wafers. Hubby want to make ‘something’ with the newly purchased Valentine silicone mold (!). A busy day.
Enjoy this beautiful weekend. Make someone else’s day a bit brighter.

Good morning. It's sunny and 42F, on its way to 45F. Good news about the knee OCD. Finally, some relief in sight. Not much planned for today. Just chillin, I hope. Maybe catch some golf, if there's any on. Then, watch the first three-peat in Superbowl history. Hope everybody has a peaceful and restful Sunday. Be safe out there and enjoy the commercials (8M for 30 seconds - geez).

Good morning. Thanks all.

Clear sky and lots of sun. 50 for the day.

Just rearranging the garage a bit. Just getting some things done before I’m out of commission. I’ll find out Tuesday when the surgery date is. Until then I’ll keep hobbling along and drinking coffee.

Enjoy life today and appreciate the little things that matter.

Good morning. It's 24F on its way to 36F. Cloudy with flurries. Prepping for another snowstorm that is forecasted to begin tomorrow night. Monday morning chores. We might go out for lunch today. Some futzing this afternoon. Be safe and be good.

...Then, watch the first three-peat in Superbowl history.

Oops. Missed that one pretty bad, lol.

Good morning. It's sunny and 31F, on its way to 45F. We also have a snowstorm in the forecast for tomorrow. 8-10". Sure don't mind if the WXGuessers get this one wrong. Well, today's Margarita Monday, so maybe we'll go enjoy, before being snowed in for several days, ha. Hope everybody has a marvelous Monday. Be safe out there and keep those snow shovels handy.
