contest Growdown: Prik Kee Noo Suan!: Prik a peck of peppers!

It will be running for 45 seconds every 4 1/2 minutes. Thanks to a homemade timer which I opened up and removed a cog and glued a gear and now every time slot runs for 45 seconds and the whole timer takes 45 minutes make one cycle. Anyway the nutrients don't need aeration since the roots will have a 4 1/2 minute dry cycle between each spray cycle.

Isn't that too much? I've made a custom watering system as well but i was thinking up to 12 seconds every 24 hours or something like that.

I am going to build another one tonight so I will take pictures of the process. Found the instructions online where a guy was making them but I couldn't find the timers that he was using so I bought one that I thought would work and just counted down the reduction gears to figure out which one to remove. I will make a thread on it in a bit.

With roots that aren't in a medium or nute solution, they will dry out if not sprayed for about 10-15 minutes and this will harm the plant. That is why with aeroponics, it is necessary to spray every 5-10 minutes. In a flood and drain system, the roots are still in a grow medium such as hydrotone and you flood for 15 minutes every 2-5 hours depending on the grower.

hmmm... tempted... ya'll know im an aerogarden king... but already planted like 6 variety of thai peppers.. dont need turd ones... ill just pass by MR POTS and spectate...AEROGARDEN will win!

I wouldn't count on that.

Although I'm not as ambitious as Dan and I certainly don't think I'll win, I will throw some smack and say that even my drip DWC system with little maintenance or care will beat most of the dirt growers.

If we scored this like golf (lowest number wins), then you definitely would win Sean. But sorry to let you down. Technology will prevail and my plant will have broken branches from so many pods!!

If nature meant for plants to grow in air, there'd be chilis floating all over the place! Dirt, son. Dirt's the way to go. I won't need to take apart some fancy magic timing thingy and fool around with no gears and cogs. That's witchcraft! Everyone knows plants grow from the ground, not the sky! That's just crazy talk!

Anyone crazy enough to compete with one of those inverted tomato hanging planters? You could prove PH wrong and grow them from the sky...Well, sort of.
