contest Growdown Throwdown 2018 Yellow Brain Strain!

Just put an end to this years harvest. I went and picked the rest of the pods green of the plants, and they're maturing beautifully in my kitchen at the moment.

The plant itself is retired to a smaller pot (2.5 gal) inside, under a 45W LED grow light - starting to put out new growth.

My new (and final) total is: (3790) + 242 + 592 + 1101 = 5725g

This is tenfold of my previous record, and several kilos more than i could ever have hoped for!

I wish everyone a delightful winter, and I'm highly jealous of anyone still capable of keeping their plants outside and growing strong!

I can't wait for next year - should we start getting ready for that?

I've streamlined my sauce making a bit lately and really been into doing fast to moderately paced ferments, keep my brine at 5%salt to water. I'm finding fermenting can produce a product that tastes vintage aged, in a fraction of the time. It's where I've needed to be for some time. This is is just prototype level stuff for now, but I keep 48 1/2 gallon masons fermenting at all times. A few carboys, and some random pickle jars. Have lots of Christmas presents to make for now, ha

Maybe something less usual, like some rocoto variety...?
That would be the most uneventful growdown for most participants. Ive had four different rocotos growing since Jan 1, huge, right along side the others...and still...only a handful of pods so far. Our weather just isnt conducive to it. Indoors they do great for me, but outdoor is another story.

The one plant that REALLY impressed me this year was one of the varieties I brought back from Sri Lanka. The one on my list labeled Chili Red. It put out sooooooo many delicious pods this year its insane. Also, I could quite easily provide seeds for everyone again rather quickly before Jan 1 2019. Just a thought! Lets hear some more ideas from people.

Also, has someone been keeping tally?! Whos winning?!

The Chili Red sounds great. Productive, delicious, and something new.

Gets my vote.

Maybe the conversation about next year's growdown should go into a seperate thread though.  I came back too late for the 2018 Growdown, so maybe I shouldn't have a say.

Should also say, I've really enjoyed reading this thread.  Amazing growers here.

Nah, we'll start a new thread once we have ideas from a few more. I'll do another poll at the beginning like always and we'll vote. Then choose vendor/supplier.

I am totally new here in THP and haven't grown any peppers yet. I will start this coming December with white and orange habañeros.

I would just like to say that all your harvest ( this goes for all the participants) for this year's GDTD is so amazing! This is one of my favorite threads in THP. I'm hope I can join GDTD 2019.
